OK guys - I'm about ready to connect the pump wire on my Comp - but NOT using the fancy cover some of you are. BUT, neither do I want to use that crummy snap-on connector supplied with the Comp, even if I *could* find enough slack in the wires to use it... And THAT is my problem and question - *I* don't HAVE 2 separate wires coming outta the VP44 - they BOTH seem to be contained in a SINGLE tight outer covering coming from the same connecting point in the center of the VP44 outgoing injector lines - and even if I *do* strip off the outer covering, don't think there's enough slack in the wires to provide any room for connector installation. . PLUS, it's nearly impossible for me to determine WHICH is the proper wire to attach to! The Comp instructions read as tho there are 2 entirely SEPARATE wires coming from 2 separate points in that general area, and to connect to the one "nearest the engine" - but BOTH wires SEEM to be coming from the SAME location on mine...

Any clues? I'm getting real frustrated here... :D

I would suggest getting the TST Grabber and saudering that to the Comp connecting wire.

This is what I use and it works well!

I think if someone posts a picture of the installation it would help you out alot more.

That's sorta what I had in mind - but FIRST, I gotta figure HOW to get TO the wires with enough slack to provide working room - dunno if wire can be pulled back from under the cover - there sure isn't any slack anywhere else!

Fortunately, there's no particular rush... ;) :D

I just don't wanna screw it up...

Gary... If you have any questions as to how to hook up your comp box I'd call PE directly. It seems that each new year, since 99, there has been a change in the sensor connectors, or the wire bundles. I'd want to make sure I had the correct box and the correct instructions... . Good luck!:)

I held a brand new vp44 in my hand the other day and the selenoid wire on the new one was much harder to get at. I was going to solder it before installing it on my engine but I didnt want to be tempted to use it before I had a few thousand miles on the new pump. I got the blue chip pump cover because of sheer ease, discreetness, and to make sure I got a good connection. I had the crappy crimp on and I suspect it had a bad connection. Some days my truck would blow my mind and others it seemed a bit lazy. My thinking is that I would go from 5x5 to Ez and back in the same day because of the scotch loc.

OK - after about the 6th time standing on my head with a small flashlight, I *finally* found another wire - it BARELY could be seen tucked in tightly behind the other wire, and when carefully pulled away from the other one, disappears in behind the plate the injector tubes are connected to, and heads in towards the block - can't begin to see where it goes to from that point - sure can't see any sign of termination point near the injector tubes or plate they secure to - but it MUST be the wire I'm looking for...

Maybe tomorrow I can work on hooking it up... :D

Gary,

Maybe your questions can be answered by reading the thread "Attention Bombers: TSB 14-002-02". There is a nice picture/illistration showing which wire needs to be pierced. Courtesty of DC instructing dealers how to spot if a VP 44 has been tampered with.

Yeah - I looked REAL closely at that after my last post up above good thing, I'd picked the WRONG wire to connect to! Mine is like the TOP illustration - more exposed, but WAY too short and tight to try to use any of the usual clip-on connectors, so will improvise... ;) :D

Sure was nice of DC to be so helpful with a nicely detailed diagram of how to BOMB my truck - Edge oughta use those pics to include in their own instructions - sure woulda helped ME!:D :D
