The truck in my sig came with a non-working Comp in it. It wouldn't power on, so I removed it. I called Edge about sending it in for diagnosis and they made me some pretty good offers on upgrades to either a new or remanufactured Comp, or a new Juice w/Attitude. I'm still sending it in for diagnostics.

So, here's my question. I've been thinking about a slight power mod, maybe RV 275 injectors and a Smarty. My main goal is MPG increase, with power available when I tow or have the cabover on. This is a daily driver, mostly highway, therefore the interest in MPG. I know that if I go to far, I'll need to upgrade my TC and probably put in a valve body upgrade. I'd like to avoid that for right now... trans is working great and that's an expensive jump.

So, Comp, Juice w/Attitude, Smarty, and/or 275s? Or??

I can get the Juice for about the same price as the Smarty, then sell my X-Monitor. I've got about a grand budgeted...

DMannon,

I have 275's and Smarty in my truck and absolutely LOVE it!!! I added the TST box also, just for when I want to have more fun on the go.

Godspeed,

Trent

How bad does your truck heat with the 275's a smarty and a tst. I have some 60 hp jammers and a smarty. I thought about a tst but figured a turbo would be a must at that point.

snidley1,

With the Smarty & 275's towing an 18k trailer up a mountain I could not get the pyro over 1100*.

The TST is on level 1, I am simply trying to get better fuel mileage. Have never run the TST up all the way, but I would think it would add heat.

I would get the TST if I were you and see how your temps are, then get a turbo if needed or just turn the TST down to an acceptable level.

Godspeed,

Trent

telliott,

The PO trashed the transmission just before I bought the truck. A reman transmission was put in and a new clutch but I have no idea what flavor or size. All I know is it has never slipped, even pulling heavy (18k) campers.

If my clutch did slip I would install the SBC conOFE, GREAT clutch!

Godspeed,

Trent

Back to the top... any other opinions?

Trent, you kinda confirmed the way I was leaning, 275s and Smarty, then maybe stack the Comp if they can fix it... then start saving for the transmission work.

i think you might want to think about transmission work before you go too far. i'm not so sure your transmission will hold the 275's and smarty, and almost for sure wont with the comp on top of that. But i think that stack would be a pretty sweet set up.

telliott,

Agreed, if DMannon runs the Smarty up to the higher levels and drives hard the transmission will not last long - especially if the Comp is stacked on top! However, Smarty on Fuel Saver for daily driving and #3 or #5 for towing and a judicious driving style will help the transmission hold on longer.

Godspeed,

Trent
