TST Comp Problem

Have any of you fellas experienced intermittent power loss and then set off these two codes (P1693-dtc detected in companion mode & P0237 map sensor voltage too low)? i know its something to do with the comps wiring because if i remove the comp the codes clear after the 4th startup... . ring a bell for anyone?

Hi there

The problem seems to be in your map sensor. Pull the connector off and make sure the contacts are good ( adding a little contact grease might help) . YOu may also have a dirty map sensor ( pull it out and clean it) or it may be going defective. If your map reads to low or to high the computer will do strange things to your power out put, Give it a try, Hope it helps.

Do yourself a favor and check your ground connections on your comp box ;) If you lose your ground, i. e. the one under the hood, you will get the situation you are taking about. Just my experinece, been there, suffered already. ;)

Yeah that ground is probably the culpret. it was really strange because it would run fine until i got to the same spot every day on the way home and then it would seem a little low on power for a split second. i actually thought it was all in my head until one day when it happened i goosed it and threw those codes... whoops. this saturday im putting injectors in so i'll move the ground and hook it all back up. mabye i'll clean that map sensor too... . its got 70,000 miles on it so it may have some gunk built up on it. man it sure is a dog without that comp hooked up :{ especially in the late afternoon when it the hottest outside... feels like a dam volkswagon beetle.

I have a 72 bug that runs 12's... :D

LOL, im talkin stock as a rock with a 50mph head wind here..... its bad man i swear yesterday a loaded cement truck almost had me.

I had a low MAP sensor voltage code for a long time. I cleaned up all the MAP sensor connections and the ground for the Edge box, but it wouldn't go away. I replaced my batteries because they were beginning to get weak and it had to crank a while sometimes. I cleaned and greased all the connections at the battery terminals when I replaced them, and after several starts the check engine light went away. Oo.

I had been looking at that light for 6 months. :(

Man it is getting close to new batteries time for me for sure... . especially with the heat in houston, seems to get'em bad. thanks man i keep that in mind this weekend!

i had that same code thrown and it was the map sensor conector plug,, it was really nasty so i cleaned it with naval jelly, the stuff that takes rust of chrome, and it works great now. if you need a new map sensor go through cummins not the dealer i saved $110

... ... ... just my 2 cents

Def check the ground! if you need to take your big Hp truck to someone and let someone else drive it, i always uhook the ground, the truck runs, but is a total dog,it is actually a tad slower than a stocker IMO. it is perfect for those times you need to let someone drive it,its driveable but wont make over 20psi of boost with twins. They cant hurt themselves or the engine :-laf
