Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Comp Stuck on 5x5

What might cause my Edge Comp to be stuck? It is though the front buttons are not hooked up on the inside. As far as power goes, it is operating fine. I've tried everything including unhooking the wiring harness for a few minutes to make sure it was powered down, etc. No luck. It is on full bore - 5x5, and won't change no how.



I guess it could be worse. At least it is stuck on the on position.

Deon. . mine does that occasionally too and I just unplug the fuse tap wire and power it back up. Did you get your t-case replaced yet?

Today it started working correctly. I think there is a loose connection inside the comp somewhere. Yesterday morning I tried removing power in the hope of resetting it. I unplugged the harness from the back of the comp for ~5 minutes and plugged it back in. It was still stuck on 5x5. It started responding to buttons after work yesterday for no apparent reason.



T-case is still not in. I did clean it up yesterday though and am going today to find a new seal for the front output. Figure it is worth replacing the seal while it is apart now.

Well, not sure what I should do with the comp. The last few days it would come on (i. e. LEDs lit) but it doesn't appear to be functioning (... no smoke ). It is stuck on 5x5 and all buttons do nothing. Tried pulling the fuse and powering up again with no change. The comp is a version 8. 0, mfg in 9/2004. What is the warranty on these things? Might the problem be the harness? I have a buddy with a comp I could probably borrow but his is not so easy to remove as it is mounted in the dash.



I pulled the comp out tonight and put the Smarty software back in. I spose I should just call Edge tomorrow and ask them about the problem. Not sure if I should expect warranty work or not - I'm thinking not after 3. 5 years.

I just read the comp version 8 bug thread. I wonder if that is partly my problem. The last time the comp buttons did work I had it on 4x2 or 4x1 (can't recall for sure). I then put it back to 5x5. It is on 5x5 now and no buttons work and the acceleration is not like it is supposed to be on 5x5. It doesn't appear to be at stock power either. I think I got more than one thing happening here...
