I was having some cold weather induced problems with my Comp the other day, and was searching for solutions.
One of them was remove the Comp from the switched power source, and another was cycle it a few times to get it to work properly.
So tonight I wired it from a secondary (aftermarket) fuse panel (5A), to a switch I mounted in the overhead (don't have a computer), down to the wire that used to run to fuse 17 on the driver's side panel. It seems to work fine, but I had two questions:
1) Is 18 gauge wire enough? I didn't have anything else, but I figured it'd work fine. I don't know what the draw on the Comp is, but if it's significantly less, I'll drop down to a different fuse.
2) Should the LEDs on the face of the comp be brighter? For some reason, it seems like they're a lot brighter. I figured if it really needed the extra power, it would have blown fuse 17 by now, but
TIA
