Replaced the "Killer" Grid Heater Bolt

Hello,
I am new to the turbo diesel register. Please forgive me, and direct me in the correct direction if I am posting this in the wrong section. I want to ask about cpp diesel. I have been looking at different websites for products for my ram, and cppdiesel.com is one of them. They have a product I am interested in, however, I also noticed there is a fair amount of negative comments, reviews, and even “do not use” feedback on the web. I am looking at their 6.7L intake horn for its airflow design and dih4 heater port. I would like to relocate the intake heater and this intake horn seems to “check my boxes”. I would like to ask the community here for your thoughts. Are the warnings, comments, reviews saying not to patronize cpp diesel valid and/or justified? Should I not shop from cpp diesel? I don’t take everything I see on the web for face value, so I hope that I will get impartial and honest feedback here. I’ve been a member of different forums for different vehicles and have always valued and appreciated the members thoughts, opinions, and advice. Please let me know,
One-If cpp diesel is good to use or not.
Two-Why cpp diesel is good to use or not.
Three-What site/sites to patronize instead.
Thanks again for taking time to read this and comment.

@Faceless, Welcome. You won't gain any improvements with that air horn setup. And most important, that little heater isn't enough to assist in a really cold start! Not enough surface area to warm up the air. Look at this thread, https://www.turbodieselregister.com/threads/heater-grid-bolt-failure.275230/page-7, post #132 has a video in it. It's about the Banks Air Horn and screw in heater. Still the same type of product.

What are you looking to do to your truck? And what is your truck?

Thanks for the response Topzide. I have a 2011 2500. I am looking to prevent the killer grid heater issue. I have read multiple discussions about this issue, and although there seems to be just as many out there that don’t feel the grid heater is an issue as do, I would still like to remove the opportunity for it to happen. I didn’t expect to see any “improvements” as much as piece of mind. I didn’t realize that the dih4 type heater was insufficient. Is this grid heater issue just smoke then? I got the impression it was more akin to the problem of the dowel pin from previous generations, where it might happen, might not. Regardless, I am more interested in the cpp diesel companies legitimacy. I don’t want to order products from a place that isn’t reputable. I have read a lot of negative stuff about cpp diesel and wanted to know if it is true or not. Again, thanks for the response and information.

@Faceless, I've done the BD improvement grid heater kit. Love the design with heavier buss bar! It wasn't a bad job. You'll need to pull injector lines, fuel rail and intake plate. here's the thread about it, https://www.turbodieselregister.com/threads/replaced-the-killer-grid-heater-bolt.275191/

The buss bar doesn't have a nut to drop off! Will handle more current without the worry! Plus you'll be able to clean up the soot from the grid and horn. Feel free to ask more questions. We won't bite your hand and offer help and reference for what your asking.

In reference to CPP Diesel, they clearly state that their stuff is "Off Road" only. That points me to a not so good feeling about their business plan.

Claiming off road only is nothing to be concerned about. That is to try to keep the EPA for going after them if they sold anything the EPA doesn't like. Statement hasn't worked previously, just ask the companies that paid the big fines or sere shut down for selling delete stuff.

Glacier diesel has the best heater by far, pulls the same power as the stock heater. And no chance of any failure to destroy engine.

I would recommend staying away from CPP. The owner was a sponsor and very active on Competition Diesel Forum for years. He went through a really rough period several years back and really dropped the ball on his business. Lots of fellows lost a good bit of money.

Thanks for all your input. This has been really helpful. Topzide, thanks for the link to the video comparison of the bd upgrade and the banks intake with dih4 heater. That was the kind of testing I needed to see to cement my decision on how I will remedy this issue. Thanks BigPapa for the input on cpp diesel, it gives me the answer to the questions I had about buying from them. I knew about several of the companies suggested, the 2011 ram 2500 is the first Cummins I have owned, but I have owned previous diesel trucks, one being a 2006 power stroke. Bulletproof diesel has so many great products and staff.
Thanks again for all the input and advice guys, appreciate it.

CPP Diesel has mixed reviews—some like their products, but others report issues with quality and service. If you’re interested in the intake horn, it could work, but check reviews first. For alternatives, try H&S Performance, XDP, or Summit Racing.

Hope that helps!
