The full BIllet DTT is on order (finally) and i am having some custom pump work to the little 160 done the goal is 400 450 hp on a single. And that brings me to my question i want twins eventually and i am definalty planning on a piers kit. however the budget wont allow the transmission, twins, pump work, exhaust, and rearend (locker) that i am planning to do all at once. So i want to get a single that downt the road will still be compatible with piers kit later on. i know the one that is commonly used is the hx 40 but i dont think it will flow enough air for my fuel and i want something a little stronger. I was looking at the 64mm htb2 will it work with piers piping and an an ht3b, or what about jr adkins little schwietzer. If not what will all opinions are welcome thanks alot. Joseph

thinking

wonder if a 5" tubo off a 4900 international would fit my 96 or some way I could build an adapter to make it bolt up? Our double tandem straight body 4900 just got recked in florida and its totl. boss said I could have the turbo off it and the 5" down pipe that comes with it will have to adapt to intercooler and build a filter retro for it whata yall think :D

hmmm Mark at Piers said an hx40 wouldnt be enough for 400+ hp worth of fuel.

There are plenty of 40's at 500 hp, it's just not recommended to take them that high and I'm sure EGT's will be hot, I've got stock turbo'd trucks at 450 on fuel only! Get the 40 and get it setup for Twins if recommended so you don't have to do it later

I am going to be building a set of twins out of my pre existing HTB2/64. I have had both Jim Fulmer and J. R Adkins tell me that it will work great with an HTB3. The HTB2 isn't much larger than the HX40 but does flow better and spool up is said to be better so that is the main reason why it should work great with the HTB3. I am planning on doing my set up within the next month or 2 if I have time!!!!

Good luck... Ryan

If it flows better better why not go with a bigger primary to match it better. A B2 (the B1's older brother) would be a good choice IMHO. I'm sure the HT3b would do a fine job but I was just throwing this out there for some food for thought.

yea see i would love to make a htb2 3b set up but i do not have acces to the tools to fabricate everything that is why i want the piers set after a while, plus they are proven, i also need the cooling right now. So the 40 is the only one that will bolt right up to the prefabricared piping that comes in the kit?

What does that mean that it wont let it breath better but I'm increasing the tube by about 1 1/2 at least how come that trucked would run 110 fully loaded and scream? I'm confuesed I thought bigger waz better?

Are you talking about using just the 5" downpipe or the entire turbocharger?

I assumed you were referring to using the complete turbo charger. If so, I didn't say it would not breath better, it will certainly flow more air. The problem would be is that with a large charger, particularly a stock turbo, is that they are so slow to spool on our smaller displacement engines. Once you get it lit, assuming you have enough fuel to do so effectively, it would probably run like a raped ape but until it is lit the truck will be smokey and doggy to drive around town. I can't even imagine how bad it would be with a load behind it.
