OK guys - you have to read this - It is great....

Cummins competition Detroit Diesel

This is a compliment AND putdown I received this morning. I pulled into the reserved Gen Ops spot at work and the mechanical company's computer tech was in his van getting out. When I pulled in, he walked around and was looking at my truck. I waited for 350* and shut her down.

He says, with a grin, "Man, shut that noisy, stinky thing off. Go plow a field or something!"

I laughed and smiled.

One other day I was in the Springs ripping down the road coming home from work. Smoking a bit, showing other trucks what an overfueled (all relative), lagged truck can do. I stop at a light and hear, "Holy s***, that thing smokes like a freight train! What are you burning in that thing, COAL?!?!?"

I looked over my shoulder as I pulled away fast and smoky. The guy was laughing (but a little ****** off).

Nick, I understand where your coming from here I own a diesel also, but I think at times we need to lessen our smoke show if possible. There are a lot of people that really get upset at a smoke show an I believe with more complaining about it we as diesel owners will be paying the price. One "example" that comes to mind is a friend of mine working for this guy for about 15 years that owned a landscaping business for over 35 years. Now he owned all the land around him, several acres an sold it off over the years to contractors to build houses on. Finally his land dwindled down to his home an just enough land for his materials, compost, sand, gravel, etc. The people that moved into those house's started complaining he was a "eye sore" to the community. The city finally was forced by the people to tell him to shutdown his business or relocate. The owner fought this battle for two years in an out of court an finally had to relocate his business about 15 miles away. He was there first, but as you can see the majority will rule in the end result. All it takes is a few to get it started an then you have a snowball affect. It would probaly be best to go out in the country some where, less populated to do the smoke shows.

Meant no disrespect on your part, just telling it like it is.

Point very well made!!! :)

Oh I know being smoked sucks, I wasn't doing it everytime I could, nor to anyone just passing by. I only did it a few times to the few people that really showed me they could not drive by riding my butt, cutting me off, etc. I do keep it to a minimum 90% of the time!
