My 07 5. 9 does the same thing. I did have to have my compressor replaced though. I wish dodge could get their ac issues fixed and their abs issues fixed. My 01 had every ac component replaced before 200k. I replaced ball joints on both trucks as well and could not get the abs light to go off on either one after replacing.

It's normal for third gens and has been discussed here since their beginning.
Still, it can be unnerving. . Early last summer mine kicked on so hard that I looked around to see if someone hit me.

Mine does it too, but not all the time and is just barely noticeable, once figured out what it was just turn it on quick and it usually doesn't do it, My 01 did the same thing, Monte

My '04. 5 does the same exact thing. It sounded like the doors that are notorious for breaking, and I've already had them fixed once. First time back to the forums in the while, so it's very reassuring that mine isn't the only one. lol I did, however, experience something odd last week. I started my truck when leaving work on Tuesday, and my AC wouldn't turn on. The light would stay on even if I had the fan turned off. After a 30 mile commute home with the windows down and turning the AC off and on numerous times with no luck ( #@$%! ), I had no idea what to do. After being home for about 30 minutes, I needed to run an errand, so I got in my truck and started driving down the road. After about 1/4 mile the AC just started working. I had left the knob turned on to the max setting, and it just started blowing cold air. It worked for a couple days, then did the same thing on Friday. It's worked ever since, but I still hold my breath every time I start my truck since it's about to be summer time in Texas

My '07 did the same thing too. I read here that it was caused by hydro lock on the compressor from R134 liquid settling into the compressor. I had to replace my compressor at about 55,000 miles as it got noisy. I re-did everything, replaced the compressor with new, new receiver drier, new orifice hose. I then cleaned out the evaporator and condenser. I removed ALL of the PAG oil. I refilled my system with Duracool refrigerant and their oil. System blows 42 degree air and NO MORE clunk with the first turn on.
