I have been considering a chip to upgrade my performance a little.

I don't want to do more than the auto transmission can take. What is the best bang for the buck. I don't want to tap any wires that will void my warranty. Any ideas or suggestions?

I would suggest an edge ez.

I have a edge comp that I just hooked up but didn't tap the pump wire. Without tapping the wire it is the same as the edge ez. This box made a world of difference is the performance of the truck. Where the box helped the most was on low end, a real kick in the pants! There are a lot of other brand of boxes out there also that are probably just as good but I like my comp in ez mode! but it probably won't stay that way for long!

As far as voiding your warranty, any power upgrade could possibly void your warranty, but I think if you leave the pump wire alone, you should stand a better chance of keeping your warranty intact. You shouldn't have to upgrade your drivetrain with this box either, but I would suggest a good set of gauges. (Fuel Presure, exhaut temp, boost, trany temp also since you have an auto. )

If ya want to save the slush box leave the truck stock till you "have" to rebuild trans then upgrade it and then add power. By that time you should be out of warrenty. The ez is a nice box but I am sure the van aken is also.

Thanks for the input. I have boost and fuel pressure gauges now.

I have to go get some codes reset before I proceed. I think I had a fuel line freeze up a few weeks ago. I was driving down the highway when fuel pressure went to zero. Temp outside that day was 8 degrees. I limped it on home a couple miles and when it warmed up next day everything has been normal since.

If you upgrade before you do any damage to the trans over powering it, it will probably be cheaper, I am a shifty guy(6spd) but I think the things you are going to need are a valve body and torque convertor to keep moderate hp upgrades safe. The companys to call are (in no special order) ats, dtt, goerends, sun coast

Good Luck

Craig

Definitely do the transmission first. That's where I went wrong with mine and now it's getting the clutch replaced.
