Hey I know a lot of you guys do vid's.....

Well we got a new JVC digital camcorder the other day and I'm still learning about it. A buddy told me about using Windows Movie Maker on my computer and its really easy and simple to do, but the video files on my Camcorder are . MOD or . MOI files instead of . MPG or . MPEG so my W-M-M can't import them. Any idea's? The camera itself came with some software to do vid's, but its a much bigger PITA than the Window's version. :confused:

Also having trouble

I have a Sony ,and windows 98 will not support it. My computer is fairly recent,but i was resistant to change Operating System. Any recommendations on what will support a Sony Mini Dv would be appreciated.

We were also unsuccessful in installing the camera software on my daughter's new computer.

Sony is so wrapped up in their proprietary software that it will be their demise in the DV mainstream. That is teh ONLY reason I keep my Viao up to date and still have it. There is a program you can run called Movie Shaker that you absolutly have to use to pull sony dv off the camera. Problem is that Movie shaker absolutly needs as much memory commited to the program that it drains your availabe resources down pretty far and makes it really easy to get ahead of the processor. :{

JVC is fairly common in the world of drivers and DV programs ... . but not easy to find. Try C-Net . com. They use a program that decompresses video into the much more format friendly MPEG formats . . allbeit big it really is cross platform friendly (Even MAC MOV users can get the simple 2 seccond codec from qt if they don't allready have it. )

Congratulations, not only did you make a good vid but you were able to post it to. Kick As

Thanks! I already had a website for hosting (supermotors. org), I've just been limited to 1min movies with my digital camera. Our new digital Camcorder I can record the pulls I attend & compete at and then share them online. Oo.
