I thought many of you would enjoy hearing this...

Today I went outside to get the mail, and what did I recieve (along with the new TDR issue)?? I found a letter addressed to me, from the Texas Commision of Environmental Quality. Yipee!!! So I open it and begin reading...

"On 1/27/04 at approximately 2:10pm, a concerned citizen reported ovserving a vehicle with your Texas license plate number at the following location: LAMAR@24TH STREET in AUSTIN, emitting excessive visible exhaust emissions (smoke). Please examine your vehicle's exhaust for dirty or excessive smoke. We encourage you to correct the problem if the smoke persists more than 10 consecutive seconds. Since excessive smoke may indicate the possible development of a far greater problem, the repairs will often pay for the themselves by preventing further damage to your vehicle's engine and will help to improve air quality. Also, under Texas law, all motor vbehicles, including diesels, are prohibited from emitting visible exhaust emissions for more than 10 consecutive seconds.

Well thanks TCEQ! I was unaware of the serious damage that may ensue from my "excessive visible exhaust emissions. " I sure am glad we have beauracracy in place to remind me that my truck is powered by a diesel engine:rolleyes:

(The funny part, is that I don't get on the throttle much in the city! We just have too many enviro-nuts in this town. )

Cant emit smoke for more than 10 seconds? What kind of crap is that :-laf

I've been waitin for a letter like that for a while. Oo.

Geez I can't wait to get my injectors. I need to find me a big ass sticker with calvin peeing on the phrase "city folk" (no offense to the city dwellers on here). Some people have too much time on their hands and need to be slapped back into the real world.

I guess I'm not one who thinks it's "cool" to blow lots of smoke. I know there are a lot of guys on here who do, with a "the more the better" attitude.

I don't hate it, and I'm not reporting anyone, but some of the stories on here obviously make some people angry-- Angry enough to do something about it. I don't think it takes much complaining from these folks to pass tougher restrictions or laws concerning diesel emissions.

So when you are "showing off" remember all who are watching probably don't like it. Save it for a less busy place and time.

Of course it's JMHO and hopefully I don't turn into a giant cloud of smoke from the flaming... .

Well I dont want to be prudish, i mean I have no problem with people stealing one states income by registering their vehicle in a state they dont live in, Nor do I care about HOG overweight haulers, and to be totaly honest yes I have stole cable... but now I have DirectTV... ... . but when it comes to just smoking well I dont like it

Man Our enviroment is important and we shouldnt be just blowing smoke for the purpose of doing it..... thats just dumb to me

hope this don't start a war on here but in my opinion, if our so called goverment had implemented more restrictions during the oh say 50's, 60's, and 70's on alot of factory smoke stacks and auto vehicles we would not be having that problem today as technology has cleaned up most of this problem with the air quality, so in my response to this, it falls back on the gov't(imagine that one) again.

I mean a ten second smoke law, omg!!! I thank god i live in Virginia in the country where we can still breath and fart without someone snooping on us. . Just my opinion nothing more...

you aint going to start a flame thing, in fact most people on here or with you. I aint , but thats just because I'm getting old maybe. Turned 40 in October

I agree with Bighammer. Lots of smoke is going to come back and bite us in the Butt some day! Sierra Club from time to time rants about what they call "overpowered pickup trucks", by that I guess they mean anything bigger than a gasser, 6 banger, half ton. The truth is there are more Dodge/Cummins truck owners than there are people in the whole Sierra Club. That's right, there are only about 700,000 members of the S. C. , but they pack a LOT of clout due to the Left-Wing Media we have. So I say... BE CAREFUL! I don't smoke anybody out if I can help it. Sometimes of course you just can't help it.

I agree, I was up in the NC mountains with some friends and I was on the scenic parkway and i had to pass a bicyclist and man I smoked him. I stopped and took the VA off. That is BS.

He was pedaling hard :)

Yeah no matter what if I give it the throttle it smokes, I had a lady pull up next to me i smoked and give me the stinky pinch her nose. I mean give the throttle with no boost= smoke. i just have an old VA

Want to get even WKener . Start looking for any gassers that are 1979 and newer that is blowing out blue smoke , right down the LP number , time , location and street that you seen it on and go to the Texas web site and turn them in . Thats what I have been doing since this was talk'd about on the TDR about a year or so ago . No gassers should be blowing out blue smoke !!!!!!!!
