DD's website lists one kind of DD3 for the ETC, and another for the ETH. I have an ETH motor (obviously), but I don't want to add their turbo to run the DD3s.

Are they just marketing their turbo or do I really need it to run the ETH DD3s? Since i am unwilling to swap turbos (yet), does that mean I have to run the ETC DD3s? Is there a difference between the injectors themselves at all? Or do they just recommend that turbo for the ETH motor?

Here's where I am going: EZ with DD3s, AFE and 4", after appropriate clutch upgrade. No other bombs to motor will be done-- yes I know about the disease, but think I have the cure.....

That is essentially what I am running. I love the combination. It is good for at least 350 HP. You can run the stock turbo!

All of the current DD3 injectors are the same.

Call Piers he has everything you will need. 1-866-888-9363

Hohn,I think the dd3s are the same, they just make more power in an ETH. and the ETH runs hotter EGTS than the ETC,even stock. This is why they recommend the HX40 with it. I have an ETC,so i couldnt tell you what you can/cannot get away with,i know i can easily run dd3s with a stock turbo on my truck.

Snow man is correct. We list the ETC and ETH products separately, as they produce different results in those two trucks, and have different requirements to keep EGT's in check. While they can be installed in your truck, we have found EGT's to be hot when towing at heavy throttle settings, which is why we recommend a larger turbo.

OK...

Here's the deal. . I don't tow much... Right now, I don't tow at all. When/if I do, it almost certainly won't be near max GVWR at all. Therefore, I don't think the EGT is so much of a worry for me. That, and I would have the Pyro in before the injectors. I also know I could reduce EGT by just downshifting and backing off.

That said, the DD2's seem to have a little more bottom end than the DD3s (based on the graphs on the DD site). I won't be driving this truck like a race car all the time..... Is the "area under the curve" about the same for these?

Everyone keeps telling me that the DD3s add power at all revs, but the dyno charts make it look like the DD3s act like a huge turbo-- more on top than on bottom... ...

Thanks again

that may be because they ran a large turbo when dynoing the DD3's

I have no problem with low end torque... . >800 ftxlbf at 2000rpm

EGT can go over 1350... . but by that time I am aproaching tripple digit speeds when empty

The dyno graph may be somewhat misleading since that was two different trucks. The one that seems to have more bottom end was a stick shift truck, where the dyno runs can be started at any RPM. We normally start them around 1500 or so. On the Stage 3 graph, that was done in an automatic, where 1900 is about as low as you can go and not get a downshift or TCC unlock. Power will be higher across the board with Stage 3's than Stage 2's.

Thanks all!

Looks like it will be the DD3s all the way... ...

I have the stick shift truck and I am thankful everyday that I didn't buy the Auto... .

III's

all the way

There are other brands out there shop around, call the different shops up and get different opinions, I have Bully Dog III's and have no high EGT probs. Don't tow much though.

Not affiliated with any vendor, just happy with my injectors, any one have a spare SB con fe laying around?

Hohn,

I have stage 3 injector (they are supposed to boost HP by 100). I did not notice less power at lower rpm. I have higher power over all rpms from idle up to 3000 rpm. I was off peak torque by say 60 lb ft when I was down around 1500 rpm. I have a suggestion about the curve you were talking about. The larger injectors put to much fuel in at the lower rpms for the boost that is available. Therefore you get less power than when the turbo is making 30 psi. I dyno'ed at 285 rear wheel HP, 617 lb ft of torque @ 3000 rpm, 30 psi boost, EGT 1200 degrees using fourth gear. I put 400 #s of rock in my truck bed to keep the wheels from smoking on the rollers. I am sure my truck has more in her but I synthetically set 30 psi as my upper boost limit. I have a stock HX35.

Andy
