I know this may seem like a stupid question to those of you more familiar with these products but I was wondering if someone could explain to me the difference between the Edge EZ, the Edge comp and lastly the TST Power max 3. I managed to talk the wife out of some of the tax refund and would like to spend it wisely. Only have about $700. 00 left after I order my gauges. I like the idea of being able to adjust the power level from inside the truck but is it worth the money? Would also like to know witch is the easiest to hide from the dealer, as warranty is still an issue. Any help would be appreciated.

First off, big welcome !!!

The difference between the 3 boxes is how they install and the obvious power output. The EZ box simply plugs into the Map sensor and the data plug. The Edge comp and the TST both require that you tap into the pump wire on the VP44. There are some ways around the marks left by the scotchlok style, but, regardless you have to tap into the pump wire with any of the high end boxes as they amplify the signal to the injection pump.

If warranty is a great concern, be advised that even the Edge EZ can be traced through Cummins diagnostic. The dealer shouldn't have a clue if you remove it before warranty work.

The Edge Comp. and the TST will also challenge your drivetrain ( read clutch) and it may be necessary to swap it out to a upgrade, such as the SBC or the McLeod, in order to hold all of the TQ these boxes produce.

If you decide you don't want to overboard with the BOMB's, the Edge EZ box is a great upgrade all by itself.

Hope this helps !!!

Thanks Bigsaint that helps me somewhat, I guess the biggest problem I’m having is deciding how bad I need the warranty you know, I want the best of both worlds all the power with no worries. Any suggestions?

I want the best of both worlds all the power with no worries.

Sorry dude - can't have it both ways. If you're worried about warranty, then wait until your 36,000 miles are up on everything but engine. IF you decide to upgrade and then your mirrors fall off it should be covered, but if the transmission spontaneously combusts then you're likely to be on your own. I think you probably already understand this, but sometimes we don't say it here, especially to new guys who may be hoodwinked by unscrupulous aftermarket salesmen (get any warranty in writing).

By the way - welcome to the TDR.

Idon't know if you have already bought your guages, but you might be able to save some money by getting a TST powermax 3 with built in guages. I'm not sure but I think it's around $950

Buy The EZ or DD TT. Did your gauge choices include Fuel pressure? If not add it on. Otherwise save the extra towards the new clutch you will need when the bomb bug bites:D
