Humming along

I purchased this 96 dually in June of 97, It had 8,000 miles on it and just had a new transmission installed but it was desinated a lemon and was a lemon law buyback, well I figured witha new transmission it would last a long time, right?, wrong , after fighting with the steeler for the next 2 months i finally got a new transmission under warranty which lasted some 250,000 miles. Then I decided to go the cheap route and get a rebuilt which sounded like a good price(1,500) this one lasted about 20,000 and failed, lost 3rd gear, fortunatley I had a 6 mo warranty and they (Driveline service of Las Vegas NV ) made it good , but here is where the story gets interesting. By this time I realized there are no cheap ways to do things when you want it done right the first time, I contacted Bill Kondeley of DTT and with his cooperation I had Bill ship his valve body to the tranmission company in Portland Or, which they installed and then they shipped the trans to Las Vegas to be installed in my dually along with a DDT torque converter which Bill sent so all the loose ends could be put together at he same time. Well needless to say I dodged the bullet this time. I now have about 225,000 miles on the DDT and it is still running strong.
