I want to add satellite radio to my truck (XM or Sirus (sp?).

Is there a way to "hardwire" satellite radio into the stock radio?

I've got the factory radio with the built in cd and cassette player (Infinity (?) radio system, with joystick right to left and front to back balance). I know that you can buy the satellite radio reciever seperately and have it transmit the sound thru the fm radio (a particular station setting) portion, but after hearing a friends set up, was not pleased with the audio quality.

Does the factory radio have auxilary rca jack inputs to make this hardwire connection (for the improved audio quality)? Or is there another way to make a wired connection?

thanks in advance,

Jon

I would check your friends set up. i think he may have some issues. there should be little to no sound quality difference with an fm modulater (unless there is something interfering with it)

I have the fm modulator. It was easy to hook up, and havnt had any problems with it. I do however, notice that I have to "crank it up" to hear stuff on XM, if I switch to regular radio then it is way too loud, I often listen to XM "all the way up". Mabye I dont have an ideal set up or something. But, I do like it, and am happy with my setup.

rholcom if you have the roade go into the menu and change your autio out put put it all the way up. I have the roade and noticed that i had to crank the radio way high to hear the xm, I uped the audio out put on the roade now same vollume for radio and roade.

jebia if you get a delphi roade it comes with a tape adapter that they say is better sound quality that the fm modulator. I have run into some bad sound on the from the fm modulator from interferance from an fm station or other interferance just had to change the chanel and all was clear agen.

jebia, there is a xm model called the "xm commander. " this unit hard wires into your exsisting stereo using some sort of fm modulator that plugs into your radio antenna and then into the back of your radio its self. its a pretty small unit, the lowest i have seen it go for was like 115 on ebay. in places like circut city its priced around 150.

do a search on ebay for xm radio and see what comes up.

I saw a link a while back for what you are looking for if your stock radio has CD changer controls there is a gizmo that plugs in where you would put the CD changer, no need for a modulator.

So day when I can afford it and it moves up on the priority list I'll go for it. ;)

Let me get this straight okay, you get this input connector assuming you have the RAZ sterio which utilizes your CD changer controls and conects you to a head unit with satellite and cd, right? So now the new head unit plays the CD or gets the satellie signal. You don't need the FM modulator?

(Not sure I'm gettin this)
