who makes mufflers like this.....?????

Bd Boost Fooler

I'm going to add a bypass filter to my 99, either Oilguard or Filtration Solutions FS-2500, I haven't decided yet which one.

Can you guys tell me where you installed the connection points ( oil inlet, oil return ) for these filters?

It seems that the biggest pain is the oil return for most installs. Some go through the oil cap with an Amsoil swivel connector, but others have found drilled and tapped holes on the block, which seems to me to be the easiest, although I don't know where these are.

FS suggests tapping the valve cover if you don't want to use the oil pan drain plug mount that's supplied.

Anyhow, looking forward to hearing from the voices of experience :p

Curious about the ByPass filter

Hi Robert. . Can I ask why you are not considering the Amsoil dual system for your 3500 ?? It comes with both filters, installation parts and a reversible mount. The price looks to be quite competitive considering what is included with the system and everyone I have spoken with has great things to say about the Amsoil system and products !!

For one thing, IMO the dual system is unnecessary. The Fleetguard Stratopore filter is excellent, I've found no justification to change this arrangment.

The Amsoil single bypass is very popular, and I have no issues with it, but in all the research I've done up to now, I prefer the Oilguard system or Filtration Solutions. (FS)

I also have the oilguard system on my unit. I mounted the unit on an extended bracket from the left side battery. Oil pick-up from the top of the filter, and return to a drilled and tapped red valve cover. . I am happy with mine... ;)

Thanks to you that replied :)

There seems to be a commonly used inlet source, that being the 1/8" NPT fitting at the rear top of the filter housing. Others have teed into the oil sensor port.

For drains, it appears I have several good choices:

> D&T the valve cover itself.

> D&T the Oil fill cap, using the Amsoil connector that has yet been unidentified.

> Tee into the 3/4" Turbo return line.

> Remove the freeze plug ( How? ) at the rear passenger side of the block above the oil pan, and install a 3/8" barbed push-on x 3/8" smooth male. ( for hose installation )

Does anyone know how you get that plug out? There's not a lot of room down there to work.
