There is an electrical plug (not the brake controller) mounted just under the dash to the right of the steering wheel, what's it for??

connector under the dash

I believe your looking at the data port that the dealer uses to pull diagostic/trouble codes and to re-program the PCM software.

I noticed this port on my 02 truck also, is this the port they use to look for codes and re-flash the computer?? DC must have changed things because I read awhile back folks where saying the plug for re-flashing the computer was under the dash or something and they where able to put a paddle lock through some holles in the plug connector so the dealer could not "snoop" around for codes or do unauthorized EPA re-flashes which kill fuel mileage and or performance. There is no way to put a paddle lock on the plug I'm seeing mounted to the bottom of my dash.
