I am looking to replace my set of 315's---------They only have 22000 and look like crap----------I rotated every 7500 and I am not impressed with them at all other than when I bought mine they were $115 ea.

I loved my 315's, but I went back to stock for the winter, which kind of defeats purpose of the superior BFG AT compared to the BFG Rugged Trail I have stock, BUT, my 40" race trailer pulls best at 2000-2200 rpm and with the 8. 7% mph difference it was near 80. Just pulled home sunday in heavy snow and blizzard conditions and truck was much better with stock size. Now I have the 3. 73, where I saw your sig that says you have 4. 10 so you may better off, but I just did not have enough gear for the speeds I want to run loaded... ... . Summer about 1-1 1/2 mpg difference between stock and 315's

I don't have the BFG's but I do have the 35 inch discoverers, and get about 16 mpg, stock engine, 2 inch leveling kit, auto transmission and 373 gears. And that's driving 75 mph @ 1900 rpm.

You must be joking if you think you're going to say something bad about a BFG All Terrain, probably the most popular light truck tire ever made, and expect it to go over well with the people that have owned them.

Just because they are popular doesn't make them a great tire. I am sure the low price has something to do with the popularity. That said, I am on my second pair and Some of these tires are junk. I have had 2 out of 9 replaced (2 sets, 1 spare) due to serious out of round issues. Those two tires took more weight to get close to balancing than I felt safe using. As for mileage, I didn't notice nuch change when I installed them. I typically get between 17 and 19 mpg.

I love the traction, but I have ruined 2 off road and they are not that cheap anymore. Plus I am on my second set with only about 35K out of the first set. I may have to try something else next time.

I could use the help and advice from those who have experience with these tires. I have stock Michelin LTX A/S in 265/70R17 load range E and wanted a slightly taller tire rated E (no more than around 34. 5 inch OD). Can't find anything out there!. I contacted Tire Rack about the 315 BFGs and they said this tire needs a 8. 5inch rim minimum. I have the optional 8 inch wide Al cast rims. they said also they may rub. I don't want to have the expense of new wheels or a lift kit. Does anyone have experience with the 315's on the stock 8inch rims like mine? I may be towing a 5iver in the future, so I wanted the load carrying range of 3000-3200 lbs per tire minimum. Thanks,

Chuck

CMEESE,

In the latest edition of TDR towards the end is an ad for 19. 5" tires and wheels in F,G,H, rated rubber, something to consider?

285's... ... ... No rub, better MPG, cheaper tire, less speedometer adjustment, fits under truck as spare, more torque to ground, look great. Those are my reasons for not going with 315's.

I would check out the LT285 70R17s from BFG. I put them on my 2003 RAM 2500 RAM QC and they fitted nicley on the truck and also cleared the diomond plated mud flaps with no problems and this is the same tire Dodge is pushing as a 33 inch tire on thier new POWER WAGON MATT 2004. 5 Silver dually laramie QC with to much damm stuff to list
