what do you plan on doing with the truck and how much power are you going to make. My advice, buy more clutch than you think you will need, cause the power is easy to make and is very addictive.
I had a south ben FE and it held the power well for hotrodding on the street. However it was way too harsh for backing up large trailers. I switched to Haisley's street twin disc. I have been extremely pleased with my Haisley clutch. (It is a tweaked McLeod if i am not mistaken) I would not hesitate to use or recomend it to anyone wanting a smooth clutch that holds the power. I haven't dynoed, but you can see my sig and make your own guess.
Peter at southbend did not have his twin disc clutches on the market when i made the change. Peter is a great guy and his service is second to none. I won the southbend give away last year, and i plan on using the winnings plus a little extra cash to buy one of Southbends twin discs for my other truck. So hopefully soon i could give a good head to head comparison of the two. I have put 30 K on my haisley, but only driven a southbend twin disc in a friends truck for a couple of miles, so i couldn't really give a comparison at this point.
If you plan on doing any sled pulling, dont even bother with a single disc, you are wasting time and money.
Just to list some of the hot clutches out there:: Enterprise Engine, Southbend, Haisley and im sure there are others. Not too many people on the board have had luck with the centerforce, so i probably wouldn't go there, but if you keep the power down it would probably be ok. 800 ft/lbs is cake to make, so if thats all they say it will hold, i would look elsewhere. Just my . 02 and experience, take it for what it's worth. PHil
