hello out there dodge ram lovers. I have a basic question i THINK... but maybe not. My temp gauge on the overhead console has never worked. Being in NH I want to know when 32 degrees is happening. It says o. c. all the time... what ever that is. I looked and looked by the rad for the probe,no luck. It was in a accident once I think, maybe it fell off then. I see a plug hanging. I ordered the sensor, but would love to hear from someone who know for sure where its located so I don't plug into a wrong area. Thanks a ton if you can help me out.

Fill out your Sig so we know what truck you have. My '98 had the probe attached to the inside of the grill. The '06 is on the driver's side of the radiator, approx. even with the headlight.

mine is right next to the driver headlight when you open the hood up. almost in the same place except opposit side of the block heater pug in if that helps at all.

Again with the signature as that will help us help you… My 1998 12V has the probe mounted to the center of the HOOD and wired into a harness bundling the hood lamp and this circuit. 'OC' definitely means you've got a circuit issue. Dodge connectors are not the most weather worthy (compared to MSD, Sure Seal—my back rack strobes are wired on SS connectors that's 600 volts hanging out in the weather reliably) I have had some weird temps result from carwash, ice storm, granddad of all puddles. See if someone can troubleshoot the harness you may just have a bad lead or a soggy connector, keep us posted.

Sorry guys, that was dumb on my part wasn't it! Its a 97 3500. How do i put it on everything i write in the future here. I see most of you have it at the bottom of your text. I'll fish around on the site if i don't here anything. I do see a plug hanging right in the middle with nothing on it. I ordered a new probe, maybe that is it. I would love to get it working!

I stole this from the FAQ page.

Ok,i hooked to a empty connector with the new probe under the rad towards the passenger side. I still get OC. I may be in the wrong place. The new probe came with a attaching plug so it may be different than original? Am i in the wrong place still. I will keep looking in mean-time. Help!! I'm goin nuts!

found it i think...

I think i found it under the drivers side battery. It ohms out about the same (22 ohms) as the new probe so i think its it,although looks slightly different. I back probed the lead going into the harness toward the module and get 32 ohms so i don't think i have a open. I think the console module must be faulty, took it down and beat on it,no change. Going to try and find a used one. Anyone have access to one for my 97 let me know and we can work a deal. I know no one with the same year that i can swap a module with to confirm but its worth a shot if i can find a used one for cheap.
