Just got a remanufactured engine replacement in my truck and I'm having some problems.

1. Consuming oil

2. Blue smoke at startup when cold.

3. Grey smoke when medium accelerating.

4. Mechanic told me that I have blow by.

I have purchaed this truck in July of 05 and for the last few months have been working on trying to fix my BRAND NEW TRUCK :(

I have given the dealer four atemps to resolve this and this is were I stand.

I also have found out that there can be hours of idle time on the engine without mileage on the truck.

I bought this truck because I have talked with so many people that are happy with the cummins.

I took a look under the truck and found screws missing that hold the wire harness and brackets left broken.

Thank you for letting me vent.

why is there a remanufactured engine going back in the truck and not a new one, it is a proven fact a remanufactured engine has a less expected engine life, and the dealer should be installing a new one for warranty, i would refuse a remanned engine, for example a 3512 cat engine in new trim should easily handle 20,000 hours of extreme abuse and a remanned one has an expected life of around 16000 hrs even when its only been rebuilt one time, hope this helps, i would only let them install a new engine in my new truck

You missed your chance to make that post.

Assuming your truck is making excessive amounts of smoke (some smoke is normal, and some oil consumption is normal), it's time to lemon law it.
