Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Contolling power???

I would like to know if anyone has tried limiting power by taking off the fuel solenoid and hooking up an adjustable cable. Would this hurt the pump in any way??? Just trying to use the cruise without slipping auto trans

Haven't done that, but I do have a valet switch. If I remember correctly, it limits the boost signal to the AFC, in turn cutting back the fueling.
