researching transmissions, what are the pros cons of the lock up control boxs vs a toggle switch. reading the Goerend sight seems that you can have the converter lock when ever you want with the switch or let it lock at 50.
I have both a toggle switch and the ATS Commander. Basically with the toggle switch you have full control of when you want the TC locked. The draw backs to the switch is that you may forget to unlock the TC when coming to a stop and possibly kill the motor and lunge you into a intersection. Also as soon as you lock the TC the transmission will shift to OD as fast as possible. You can overcome this by manually selecting which gear you want to be in.
Most lock up controllers allow you to stay locked up down to 15 mph and then unlocks so that you can safely stop. Also your transmission should shift as normal instead of going straight to OD. Normally they won't allow you to lock it up in 1st gear either.
I wouldn't suggest either one unless your transmission is built for it though.
