Convenience package

Here's a strange one for ya'll. A friend of mine has a 2001. 5 QC,4wd, 5 speed. He has keyless entry with the convenience package. In the mornings he makes a 20 mile drive to work and the display of temperature never changes. Sometimes when sitting still at a red light the display will start blinking, the doors will lock and horn will start honking. This will continue until he turns the key off and back on. He took it to the stealer and they replaced the module for the convenience package. This worked okay for about a week and it started doing the same thing. Has anyone had this same problem or have any ideas. Your advice would be greatly appreciated!

No problems with mine either. As a matter of fact I think this is the first trouble I have heard about it. I am amazed how accurate mine is. I look at it when driving by a bank or something. When I start the truck in the am the egt gauge and the temp overhead are almost the same most mornings,although the probe is in a different place. Never off more than a couple of degrees.

I had to have my temp sensor replaced early on. One time it read 65 deg. all weekend while I was camping - that was some stable weather weekend! It still isn't the most responsive some times, but not bad.

Does your friends truck have the cab clearance

lights? If so I suspect that one or more has a

leak and the water is messing with the electrics.

Try hosing it down and seeing if there is any

leakage in that area above the headliner.

Have had probs with my temp sensor reading 5-15 degrees higher than what the real temp is, but otherwise it's worked great.
