2001 XJ gas swap to 4bt cummins diesel

W150 all done.

Getting released from Hospital tommorow and need to start thinking of RE-HAB dont know of any better way to rehab than getting up and down off the floor of a shop and climbing stairs out of the floor pit. And doing something useful. What are your thoughts on a 4BT cummins (that I already have) into something like a 47 international or something similar that I can find.

The wifes is a 1ton 72 chevy with the 5. 9 cummins with TH400. its seems like a great combo. Would the 4BT and TH400 work just as well.

BIG!

Thats an outstanding idea!

Theres a fellow around here that drives a Toyota Landcrusier wagon with a Cummins 4BT conversion!

I'd love to see one in one of those new 4 door Jeep Wrangler unlimited Rubicons.

One question?

Are ya gonna bench press the engine:DOo. !

Yer Pard!

Greg

Pard

After doing them steroid treatments that the Doc gave me before this operation. Im a bunch stronger (about 30lbs) worth and now with no physical activity im going nuts. Naaa the motor is a little much but just the getting up and down is just what I need to get use to the new leg's ( ya I get two of them) one for everyday do nothing and dancing and the other for when we go to the hills and packin. BUT AINT THAT TRUCK COOL I bet that would turn some heads at the Seeley Feed store I COULD HAUL A COUPLE OF BAGS OF MILO ON THE BACK :-laf I like the bus that Mr GAmes had on post but the wife said REALLY ???? so I had to scale back and remind her that she WRECKED 3 of my muscle cars

That is a pretty sweet ride, BIG. Bien im into the 4wheelin scene my dream conversion is an old scout or an old school jeep with a cummins. My pops has a 67 landcruiser its got the originial straight 6 with a 3 speed floor shift manual trans. It originally was on the tree but linkage was wore out so we found a linkage from the next generation landcruisers and converted it. Ive been tellin pops i got dibs on the ol girl whenever he gets tired of beatin around in it since the first year he bought it. 15 years later and he aint wore out yet :{ im beginning to think hes grown fond of it.

So!!!!!! IM INTO 4 WHEELIN ALSO JUST A LITTLE DIFFERENT KIND :-laf Wife put the phone next to the Boy's and Daisy before she came to the Hospital today. They started BRAYIN BIG TIME they miss me to. :D I just wonder how much I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER I have to shovel at home? Jeeps SO DO THEY I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER??? something to think about.

I tell my wife shes costly all the time just like my toys all though i tell her shes a funner ride :D

On a side note, hearing you call me (and others) pard sure does remind me of my grandfather. As far back as i remember that was my name when he was around. Never called me anything but pard. I spent ALOT of my younger years with him he retired from the post office and was stiill healthy enough to enjoy life and he would pack my up in the motorhome and run the countryside in the summers. Sometimes we would be gone for a day or 2 sometimes it turned into a week or more. He took me all over the appelachians in some real remote off the beaten path spots. Some spots i remember thinkin that motorhome wasnt gonna come out of. He spawned my love for the outdoors and hiking and fiishing. Some of the greatest memories i have are with him.

I hope to do the same thing with my GRANDSON he's one great little guy. I just hope I can learn to slow down a little around the place so in a few years when he's ready to ride, I still can. I can remember working on my Grandfathers farm in NB. I had fun brother/sister hated it.

Its ironic how things come full circle when i was young my grandfather always seemed the fun type he was always good for a laugh very free spirirted and like i said earlier always up for some kind of adventure or another. My dad on the other hand always had his nose to the grind and as i got older expected me to do the same we had an ok relationship but he was hard on me in ways my grandfather wasnt and for reasons i didnt understand at the time well fast forward a few decades now i can see my boys developing the same relationship with my father that i had with my grandfather. Although my boys are coming to the age they are old enough to learn a little about work ethic and responsibility i have been trying to keep a balance between principle and fun i try to make more time for them than my old man made for me him and i never had much in common or spent much time together that wasnt work related and hes made mention of that i think he regrets it now. Ive told him more than once not to sweat it but at the same time i dont want to make the same mistake if i can help. Hope that makes a little sense its probly more babbling then you care to hear!

I think we have the same Dad mine was Hard as BARLOW, HEAD LIKE THE ROCK OF GERBRALTER. But he was VERY smart at some things and VERY IGNORANT at others. When it came to hunting/working of cars/Baseball we were the best of Pards. Anything else we were at the end of each others punch mostly his I gave him the respect that he was my Dad and I THINK I COULD HAVE KICKED his BUTT I DIDNT. He was Pi**ed BIG TIME that I didn't go to the Navy but the Air Force instead . The change for us came when I got hit in Vietnam. The Military told my parents that I would be in Ramstein AFB and they were there. Both my Parents were Pearl Harbor survivors when WWII was over he got out and when Korea happened he went back in and retired from the Navy ,went to work for Western Airlines when asked to go to Vietnam to train aviation metal smiths he went 7times to Da nang for some reason it took getting my leg blown off to make the old man believe in me. Even being an airedale wasn't bad any longer. I can understand about ANY MILITARY service when my Daughter joined the AF. I was TOTALLY against it she couldn't understand I pulled up my pant leg REASON ENOUGH? if not how about this!!!! when the I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER HITS THE FAN ITS TO LATE TO CALL TIME OUT!!! She still went and flew in to the Middle East Air Bases to bring back wounded. She's on her way home to take care of me TALK ABOUT FULL CIRCLE.

Big,
I was lucky enough to finish a Land Cruiser wagon w/ a 4BT and a 700R4. She is an inter cooled turbo. 25 MPG @75, wish it was mine. The shop that started the conversion cut some small corners, with big consequences,
took me a long time to find all the crap.
As for the exercise, I feel you, I am getting frequent flyer miles in the hospital myself .
Good luck

700R4 Is a computer transmission is it not? The wifes Chevy conversion runs with a 400TH an works fine thats the main reason for the question about the 4BT and the 400TH being a good match. I want to stay away from ANYTHING that needs a computer to run it. One of the links above is where BIL that did Wifes Chevy conversion bought the trans adapter to the 5. 9 to 400TH.

The frequent flyer miles are done for awhile I hope. Im getting tired of people cutting, poking, jabbing and looking at stuff that aint even hurting or in need of repair. One Doctor asked can you still ahhh ahhhh ahhhh. WELL SPIT IT OUT!!!! YA I CAN STILL LAY SOME PIPE WITHOUT ANY BLUE PILL, What the Hell that had to do with the bone in my stump going bad is BEYOND ME!!! Other than when laying pipe its HARD TO GET A GOOD GRIP ON THE CARPET WITH ONLY ONE FOOT!!!!!!!!! Well then I guess your ok on that subject. DO YA THINK!!!! and it took that moron 8 years to learn how to ask a stupid question.

Hope your not having any problems its tough to deal with this stuff and try to have a good outlook at MOST of the medical profession. On The way home from the hospital I seen a CJ7 but we have a 4x4 so dont need anymore. Just kind of want something to have fun with in the summer at the burger drive in at town and not be to complicated to build.

700R4 Is a computer transmission is it not?
I believe all the 700Rs are stand alone, 4L60E is the computer version ( have 4L60 in my CJ)
OD is very nice:)

Big, I am pretty sure the 700 and the 200R4 are the last of the hydraulics. Just electric to lock up the converter. Maybe.

You want a nice burger joint cruiser? I like your original idea of a older small truck like the IH you mention. The video link example is a bit too done for my taste. Dig this Dodge I saw at the "days of the past show" a few weeks ago... The body is overkill- maybe a low stake for the milo :)

I'm not just partial to dodge, but it's a beauty. Imagine a buzzing B in there!

Would be allot easier to find around here, there are a bunch but dont know how bad rust would be. Have to have some guys in So Ca area that I know look around for some toys that are rust free.
