I have been considering converting to single reat wheels on my 2002-3500.

Other than the bodywork I forsee several problems.

What needs to be done to the axles? Does the rear stay the same? I now there is a spacer on the front hubs.

Wheels and tires. What do ou have to do to keep near the same weight capacity? My 235-85s would be a little short when used as singles.

It anyone has bone this your input would be appreciated.

I don't mean to ask stupid questions, but why are you wanting to do this? I believe the dually axle is wider than a single wheel. I think it would be cool for somebody to put a set of super singles under their dually.

You'll have less money into an air ride suspension instead of converting to a SRW truck. The axle tubes are different lengths, plus you'll have to buy 4 new wheels, tires, not to mention all the bodywork and paint. Plus there is removal of the wiring for the dually fender lights to deal with. Thats minor though.

Even a better set of shocks may smooth your ride a bit. Or perhaps removing overload springs and installing rear bags may help.

Your legal GVWR for that truck is calculated with the DRW setup. Your new GVW will be no different than a 2500 truck, which is 8,800 lb. 11,000 lb with DRW.
