Somebody told me once that around the time that Ford had the 6. 9 in their pickups, John Deere offered a kit to install a 7. 6 liter Deere engine in the Ford pickups. Has anybody ever heard of this? I was talking to a guy here a couple of months ago that said he saw a Ford pickup with a Deere engine in it over at the Scheid Diesel Extravaganza over in Indiana.

Was he sure it was a Deere?? Can he tell the differance between a Deere and a Cummins??

Yeah, it was a Deere engine, and yes he can tell the difference. The 7. 6 liter is the metric version of the popular 466 Deere engine that was used in a lot of tractors and combines. He wasn't sure whether it was the 466 or the 404 though. Did anybody see the jeep over there with the 4BT3. 9 Cummins in it?

The jeep swap was deffinitly a sweet one . On the topic of the JD. swap, I beleive it was the 2000 show at Sheid's that a guy had a 1st. Gen Dodge crew cab with a JD turbo diesel. Sorry I can't tell ya' more. If I remember correctly it made a fairly impressive pass on the dyno.

Deere in a Ford

Sorry about that - I must have missed that one. I thought he might have been talking about my Ford/Cummins. I did see the Yellow Jeep with the 4cyl. 3. 9 Cummins though.
