Wolffman,

I think they they will fill the wheel well nicely, did you do the calcs on what this will do to gear ratio?

Whatever you do make it simple so you can find tires on the road if there is an issue.

We blew a tire on my buddies motorhome this weekend. It takes 275/70R22. 5 and they are impossible to find and they don't carry a spare on it. Took us 24 hours to find a used tire, not fun.

How common are the 225 series 19. 5 inch tires? If I ran 19. 5's this is what I would run so to keep the gearing/high at stock levels?

Driverno8, are you talking about 22. 5 tires ridinging rough or 19. 5 tires?

No I haven't. I am not too worried because I have the juice w/attitude and think I will have plenty of power empty. When I do tow I tow heavy close to 35,000 lbs so I am anxious to see how it does. I do have a jake and with 74,000miles I have more than 1/2 of my original brake pads left, I use it ever time I start my truck. I do know that it will make my truck cruise at a lower rpm which will help on the interstates at 80-85mph :D

The 22. 5 are what rode horrible. The truck skated, it was worse when loaded. He had it that way about 2 weeks. He said it scared him when he was towing his boat (38' Scarab, approx 12,000lbs). I drove it once with them on and made the comment to him it drove weird. That size rim/tires come off a semi. Look a the weight difference just in the trucks. Not even talking towing weight. He tried everything to get it to rid better. Nothing worked. Granted the truck looked killer with those big rims on it. But safety prevailed. His 19. 5 he has now look great. Not one problem. It rides beautiful. Plus with the 10 lug and chome lug caps. It looks killer when the wheels rotating.

yeah, I would imagine a little 6-7k lb truck would have a hard time getting those semi tires warm enough to actually grip the pavement

it's a shame because they sure look sweet!

That is sweet? Wonder if the could powder coat them my truck color "molten red"?

Anyone want to buy a set of 7 stock 17" tires and rims with only 5k miles :)

It does sound like a good deal but look at the weight carrying capacity a 245 has over a 225. Our 17" tires have almost as much if not as much as a 225. I know my 265 are overkill but at least I never have to worry about overloading my tires :)

In order to overload a factory tire, you'd have to be carrying somewheres around 12K IN THE BOX--assuming dually. I don't think anyone has ever done that. 225's might not carry a lot more, but they will last a lot longer.

Well I finally got my new tires on and they look great in my opion. It makes my truck look stout. They run great down the highway and so far have no regrets. WIll post pictures as soon as I can.
