road help

We've just bought a 10 year old 5th wheel with a 6300 series Magnatek 45 amp power converter. I think the converter section is pretty well done . Transformer and diode boards run hot and are noisey and it makes lots of audible hum and radio hum.

I think Magnatek have an expensive upgrade for good pure DC but was wondering if anyone has tried anything else that might or might not located in the existing compartment?

Any advice would be appreciated

Thanks

David

If you're thinking about changing out converters, I'd highly recommend the Progressive Dynamics IntelliPower 91XX series. We changed our 55 amp Todd Engineering converter out to an IntelliPower 9155 with the Charge Wizard accessory and haven't had a moment's problem. The Charge Wizard (plugs right in to the 91XX series converter) turns the converter into a very capable 3-stage plus desulfation battery charger. We keep our 5ver plugged in while in storage and only have to add battery water about once a year.

These converters are available from many RV parts outlets as well as Camping World.
