Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) converter not locking up on a 98 12v

i have a buddy with a friend that according to him the converter is not locking up on his 98, what would be the common things to look at? my suggestion is to ace the slushbox for a stick and he agrees after a ride in mine but i don't think that is a wife friendly solution

Have him go to Autozone and put a Scan tool on it. Will let you use one for free. See if there are any codes.

Could be relay or solenoid problem. V/B problem. Low pressure to the t/c... ... ... ... ...

Make sure the return spring for the throttle valve lever on the trans isn't broke or missing.

Love the Goerend trans, but l'm still a handshaker guy. Finally got one when I bought the '99.
