Re: GLTDR

Hey Johnny5, yes I'm a menber of the GLTDR, a great bunch of guys. At Muncie there will be a bunch of guys from Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, and Illinois. As well as from all across the country.

I wouldn't miss it!! DON'T worry about not knowing very many people, I know only a few people in the TDR and GLTDR by name, and even fewer that I would recognize by sight.

The common ground is our Rams with Cummins engines, and everyone loves to talk trucks. You'll be right at home in minutes. If you want, email me and give me your cell phone #, and we can meet up in Muncie.

Hope to see ya there, Greg L [NN]

Interesting test day...

Today was the day to go out and play with the OD vs. no OD and actually pay attention to shifting and RPM's, since I had to do some cruising. Well about a mile from the house I settled in for the test and first off was to change the tilt on the steering wheel to get a better view of the tach... When all of a sudden I saw both needles go flatline , a second later I realized the truck shut off on me :eek: , while I was cruising at 55mph. Diagnosed it on the side of the road, as a dead spot in the tilt. Wonder if this is related to the clockspring recall done 2 weeks ago, back to the stealer I go . Silver lining, I was thinking of getting that extended idle TSB, so this is my chance. Did not do all the research on TDR yet, but if there was any problems with that TSB please let me know.

Back to the TC school... Does 2550@ 65mph and 2750@70 (OD off/unloaded) sound right to you guys? Was quite a difference from 2000@70+ in OD. I was getting nervous up there since she was a screamin, and that redline looks like approx. 3200 (or somewhere just above that). I believe I have learned what lockup is now and I can definitely feel more power at the higher RPM's. Thanx again for TC-101. :D

Lsfarm... may take you up on that, talked to the navigator and she said it sounds cool. I will know sometime that week. Options, come for just Sat or get there Fri so we can get a good start on Sat.

J5,dont worry about revving the motor that high, you can flat foot it literally al the time. The engine is governed so it will got allow itself to get hurt. If it wasnt Cummins would have tons of warranty claims. You are actual better offf winding it up to 2750 than to run it hard at a low RPM,like at 17-1800 in OD. On the older rams the sterring column wires would break off over time makein the turck die,Yours is obvoiusly a defect in the materials,or workmanship.

I was thinking about 4k springs and how cool it would be to run 90+ in direct, instead of topping out at 110 I could peg the speedo... ... Remember my story about getting chaced by the 24V:D

Not in Southern WI, but...

Johnny,

I'm in central WI, and I'll be at Muncie with a bunch of other WI/IL/IA/MN guys. If you'd be interested in being a part of our local group, PM or email me for details. We have a great group of guys, and we just had a dyno event in NE Iowa this past weekend.

Johnny, there are a couple of us in southern WI. Shoot me or Fireman Dave an email and we will let you know the next time we get together for a bomb/bs session. You would be more than welcome to come up and join in. Like Dave said our local area group is really a great bunch of guys and we always welcome another to the group.
