What should I sell my truck for?

OK, so I'm having 2nd thoughts.

Today I was quoted:

$1455 = Recon

$1935 = Chase

$1400 is what I was going to pay for my Skyjacker, and I only want to run 35's.

So... please convince me.

Questions:

#1 I assume my local 4x4 shop can install this kit?

#2 Every other manufacturer seems to sell longer control arms and such to keep OE geometry, Kore looks like it's just springs and shocks. What am I missing?

#3 Are these made to order? How long would I have to wait?

#4 Where can I buy and what credit cards do they take? (Yes, I have the cash but I gotta decide which CC to put it on). :)

#5 Is the Chase worth the extra $500? Looks like shocks are the only difference. Most of my driving is on the street and occasionally the farm. What will the Fox shocks enable me to do better?

Thank you!!

Jonathan,

I can give you my perspective. I bought the Chase system and I'm very happy with the performance. I know of only one other suspension kit that even comes close. I have used Skyjacker in the past on my offroad rigs and even the softride springs don't match up to KORE.

#1 - Your local shop should be able to put on this suspension. I did mine myself with a floor jack, jackstands and some wrenches. No cutting or welding required. Only minor drilling to mount the external reservoirs.

#2 - KORE has heavy duty control arms, anit-sway bars, steering dampers, sway bar relocation blocks and track bars. This kit is not more than a 2. 5 inch lift. Longer bars are not really necessary.

#3 - I'm not sure what the availability is today. KORE has one reseller in California that may have stock as well.

#4 - I did the CC thing to get my FF points. I bought straight from KORE.

#5 - I went with the Bilsteins in the Chase package. They do the job even at the hunting lease. If you have the extra $ go with the FOX.

I hope this helps

Talk to Greg Boardman. He'll answer all your questions and concerns. I installed my PACE (Recon) by myself in my driveway and anytime I had a question Greg was there with the answers. I wouldn't go back to a stock setup on a bet.

This might be an unpopular statement, but IMO if I were going to be mostly on the street with the occasional light off road I would just get a leveling kit for the 35's and be done w/ it. There's not much point in getting a high dollar off road suspension system unless you are going to be doing some serious off roading. You'll have a lot of money tied up in something that you don't really need, (which is one of my personal favorite things to do).

Ahh what the heck, if you got the extra cheese the go for it! :-laf The things you listed are not problems. :)

I like the way you think coolslice,I was thinking of going with KORE coils up front and getting 1" add a leaf for the rear. I do mostly highway, and have a 10,000 dump trailer that I use to tow a 57 cj5 up to my hunting cabin,I rather beat on that its a lot cheaper to fix :D

You must understand Kore products (and the other two for that matter) are PERFORMANCE suspensions. That is they make your truck be better. The other lift kits mostly make your truck look different. Any Kore package will extend the capabilities of what your truck can do. You will have better on- road performance too. That said you have to pick the package that is right for you. The reason the kits are simple is that is all you need. You don't need longer control arms and all that other mess (Example: I ran a leveling kit for a while before KORE was available. It came with a "longer" lower control arm to maintain geometry. Had problems. Replaced with KORE. Measured lift kit lower arm to stock... same length. I bought into the marketing BS. Just something to get money form me. ). All the kits come with the same springs and leaf packs. The difference in the kits are the shocks. I think the new Chase is great because you don't have to have the billet towers which keep things at a reasonable cost. When it come to these suspensions, you get what you pay for. It will be the very first thing I do to my next Ram. There, did that convince you?? :-laf

I was looking for some better handling and comfort on the street. That's why I only went with the Bilsteins. I got what I wanted and more. My kidneys thank me and my 8500# bumper pull doesn't jerk the truck around as much.

Yes, this is why I am considering the Kore. I thought Recon price was like $2500 which is why I counted it out, but since it's about the same as the Skyjacker than why not?

I have had lift kits before on other vehicles. They rode like cr*p, although they looked sweet!

Everyone has raved about the Kore and I'm willing to take the risk.

Let's look at the facts:

I am ready to spend $1400 for a lift that just gives me 4. 5" of lift and rides a like most lifts do, when I only need 2. 5".

Or I could spend $1400 on a quality suspension that may ride good or better and get the 2. 5" of lift I need.

Ain't no way I'm going with just spacers. Some people like 'em and work fine cause all they wanna do is make it look better, but I'm not looking for "just" looks anymore. That's the only reason I haven't lifted it yet, because I've been scared of how it was going to ride.

With Kore... I ain't so worried anymore. :) Thank ya'll so much for the help, but keep the opinions comin'... I haven't ordered it yet.

All three performance kits currently available increase spring travel, improve ride overall, and minimize ride height increase. That being said contact all three and listen to their opinion. Decide for yourself after researching it. I'm running a mongrel setup.

JonathanBurk, the only difference between the RECON and the CHASE is the shocks. But they are a huge difference. Well worth the price.

With the 2003 and newer trucks you have the option of getting the Variable Rate Coils, which give more than 2. 5 inches of increased ride height. A little over 3 is expected.

By far, get the system, not just the HD leveling kit. The mini-pak for the rear is much better riding than the factory overload. And unless your putting a slide-in camper in there, will tow with ease without dropping the rear so much it looks stupid going down the road, blinding everyone with your headlights in the sky. I've seen more than my share of Ford and Chevy's lifted to the sky pulling Huge Toy haulers that look like that.

Shipments came in today or yesterday, the CHASE w/Fox shocks go FAST!! I have 2 coming my way. Give Greg a call, he'll give you the scoop on availability. Can't wait to get mine on.

I'm curious where you got your prices for the Kore systems? I emailed Greg through his company about a week or so ago and he hasn't gotten back to me. I've emailed the three main "Dodge" suspension companies and so far only received one response. I'm curious as to who's going to give me the best customer service and since there are a few of you who have chimed in about the Kore here... who did you buy yours from... DRC or Kore? Is there a price difference between the two?

I emailed Greg at DRC and it took about a week for a response, so I wound up calling in the interim. I also spoke directly with Kore when I had some technical questions, you can buy straight from them but they recommended that since i had already established a relationship with Greg to go ahead and order through him. Kore indicated that there was no difference in price, but that didn't take into account the TDR discount Greg is offering. Only thing holding me back is I need to hook up my 5th wheel (it's out of state right now) to see what that inch raise in the rear will do to me, I'm close on clearance as it is.

JB,

If you can fork out the extra $500, the Chase system is the way to go. You're on the street a lot, and the Chase is a huge improvement over stock on the street. Better handling and smoother ride. You can definately take curves and corners faster w/ more control and steer w/ one hand, BUT I don't reccommend it :D ! It's scary how much better the suspension handles than stock. You'll be going faster down the rode than you realize because you have that much more control. Just AwEsOmE  !

-And you have to go with an E rated 35, no questions asked. I had the 315 BFG's before the 35" Toyo M/T, and the difference and feel is tremendous.

Hi Guys,

Sorry for the slow responses with email as of late. We have been very busy building trucks and answering phones and email is the easiest to neglect. I will be answering more of it tomorrow, 50+ a day is tough to keep up with... . ;)
