Gentlemen, We don't need any more "locked topics" and the hard feelings the last round of transmission wars set off. I'm confident that if I were to start a new stand alone topic about the following that it would it would ultimately lead exactly to that. The board moderators deserve better from us. This thread was started about DTT and I'll do my level best keep it as singularly focused about DTT as I possibly can... .
Last week I made a decision to purchase a non-DTT torque converter. If you read all the topics posted here, then you are probably already aware of this. To make a very l-o-n-g story short, (and I hope not too simplistic) the non-DTT converter that I had ordered could not be delivered to me within the time constraints in which I needed it. It was not ready to ship. Period.
I'm leaving for a week long RV trip with my family next week. Our travel trailer is a 31 foot Prowler. (31G-8500Lbs. ) The much abused stock converter might have left town, but I wasn't too sure about it returning. Ever had that feeling??? To cancel this annual trip was out of the question.
I started a frantic search thru the TDR archives and visited every transmission vendor website I could find. No stone that I'm aware of was left unturned. After four hours of research my LAST phone call was to DTT. Mr. Bill answered personally and seemed as surprised to hear from me as what I was to be talking with him. This was the first time we had ever communicated man to man, person to person, or vendor to customer if you will.
I wouldn't exactly describe our conversation as a "lovefest", but I believe we know and understand each other a LOT better now, and as far as I'm concerned, I've made a New Friend. You can never have too many Friends. Typing on a shiny plastic keyboard and shooting it out into cyberspace is a very poor form of communication. I thought that I already understood that.
Well, let me wrap this up.
My DTT 91% converter was shipped yesterday and a custom built valve body will soon follow. The level of customer service and personalized attention I received was exactly what I have been (skeptically) reading about here for months. As with most mini-adventures of a like nature, I believe this one turned out for the best.
Got to go. . Time to eat ..... HMMmmmmmmmm... crow... ... ..... my favorite
