////// Towing advice for hauling about 17 K /////

We will be staying within Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks for about four weeks this summer (Fishing Bridge in Yellowstone and Colter Bay Village in Grand Teton). Both state that cooking implements and food cannot be left outside. This makes sense to me, but seems to me it will create quite a few chores: haul everything out, fire things up, cook and eat, let everything cool, put everything away.

When we have camped with the travel trailer before, we left the grill, dutch ovens, and assorted other stuff outside.

Just wonder if others have been down this road and wonder what solutions that have come up with.

Thanks!

Go to bear "friendship" training classes! My Aunt years ago took a slab of bacon back from a bear at Yellowstone! She was a fearless woman and the bear must have noticed that, as she lived on to almost 100. SNOKING

There's bears in-them thare hills!! If your luck enough to see one. Just beware. If left out the rangers WILL have you put it a way. Sorry but thats the way it is.

We generally do very simplified cooking at Yellowstone, mainly because we spend very little time at the camper and long/extravagant meals don't fit into the schedule.

But yes, everything comes out and goes away with each meal cooked at the camp site.

Cooler cannot be left in the bed of the truck overnight either, nor can trash bags be left outside. You will get a knock on your door at 3am if the rangers see it.

Yes, my understanding is that everything must always be put away and that the rule I seriously enforced.

I am wondering if I can build some type of a box or enclosure for grill and dutch oven and hoist out of the bed of truck when needed and place back in when done. I have a Retrax cover on the bed of truck. Just wonder if anyone has done anything like this.

I don't imagine I will see a bear in the campground; I imagine the rule is strictly enforced so that one does not see a bear in the campground.

A box would meet the requirements. There are also bear boxes that are placed thru-ought the campgrounds.
