just ordered my cool blue hose ( in black color ) , i now have the stock hose with a air raid in the middle , i am hoping with the new hose will be louder , i will report back on my findings , air raid will be for sale , Oo.

i am getting it anyway but i can't figure out why it would be louder than what i have already with the stock hose and a airraid thing ? maybe someone will chime in

With an SPS62, I didn't notice much of a difference in sound when I installed the CBH. The SPS doesn't have the silencer ring, and I think I hear it about the same. If you really want some noise, install an MBRP muffler.

Do you have an airaid intake? I do, and I have always wondered if adding the cool blue hose would make it louder than the factory tube with the airaid spacer in the middle. I wish amsoil made a filter with the funky off-set of the airaid filter with the right diameter to fit directly:(

Airaid MIT will be as loud as the cool blue hose. The problem with the MIT, it is shorter then the stock tube? What where the guys at Airaid thinking????????????????

I have the MIT tube, but do not use, because of this, it forced the upper elbow to bend, reducing the flow, and position. "Anyone" no someone at Airaid???, tell them to come out with a "STOCK" length unit, and I will buy it!

Follow up, I sent Airaid an e-mail asking why the Cummins MIT is to short. I will post there response.

Since we started making it in colors, we have just been calling it the "Cool Hose". They sold out again but more are coming mid-March.

Airaid responded to my e-mail as to why the MIT tube is a inch shorter then stock.

"The 300-928 tube for the Dodge Cummins Diesel is shorter than the stock piece. It

was designed this way so it would properly fit with the Airaid Quick

Fit system and also the stock intake set up. Even though it is shorter it

will fit properly with no issues. "

I am glad Airaid followed up, and I am going to recommend to only purchase the MIT if you run the Airaid kit.

I do not like the way it fits, I have ordered the Cool "BLACK" hose from PSM.

Oh my gosh why are you guys still wasting your money on the stock airbox. there are some things I don't understand about yal. if you guys live locally I would suggest you come by my house I will remove my AFE stage 2 and we will run to the nearest dyno. dyno the stock box junk with all the mods you want to put on it. then we will through my AFE stage 2 on your truck for a second run. I am not a aerodynamics engineer kind of guy, but I have enough common sense to understand why the AFE stage 2 is so effective. My offer stands to anyone who wants to meet me at any of the pulls I will be attending this year in the following states: Maryland, Virgina, Deleware, North Carolina, New Jersey, Pennsilvainia. After attending 3 sled pulling events last year hooking up the one day twice I am hooked and have booked my calendar to attend as many pulls as possible this year traveling as far as 550 miles just to hook up. My remaining free times on the weekends will be spent at the various dragstrips in maryland and deleware. So if you wanna meet and wanna make a bet on which intake is better, losser pays dyno fees then I am all for a little R&D.

maybe I should fore warn you the AFE Stage 2 sucks from many directions. The stock sucks mainly from the one side (hole in fender) but will suck more at bottom if you drill it out at bottom. also from the looks of the plumbing pictured the air density stays the same all the way into the inlet side of the turbo. AFE stage 2 is a wee bit different.

But I will give you guys credit that oil changes are easy with modded stock air box also if you took the stock air box out and timed yourself the stock air box can be installed alot quicker than the AFE.

You are obviously very excited about drag racing and sled pulling and that's great. You have to remember that a vast majority of the guys out there aren't into those kind of things. They want to do what the truck is designed to do. That's tow. The stock airbox is a nice sealed, quiet unit that with a minor modification can flow enough air for around 425 rwp. That won't make you the man at the dyno but it will sure get a 40' fifth wheel movin. Oh yeah, and the AFE stage II is about 4 times the price. Both mods obviously have their respective audience and application.

Derek have you dyno'd this on your truck? I am going to dyno my truck, swap intakes, and I will report back in with the results.
