I guess I'm just looking for a little more reassurance. For those of you who have installed the Cool Blue Hose, would you purchase again?

I'm relatively new to this Turbo diesel thing, but from what I have read on here is that it will help lower the EGT numbers. And a little MPG to boot, however trivial it might be. Energy saved now is energy that can be spent later. :)

Thanks for your opinions.

And have a great New Year.

I second this one. I've been kicking it around as Diesel Performance boasts 200 CFM over the stock tube. I am on the fence about letting loose with the money. I also have concerns with it collapsing under heavy acceleration. I have gutted the "intake muffler" and removed the silencer. Noise is not a concern. Is it worth the expense in decreased EGT's and performance?

I have talked to a few people who have it installed and they love it. I asked them about collapsing and they said they have not had a problem even with big turobs or even twins and under high boost pressures. I am going to get one for mine just waiting for that kind of coin. I think it is kind of spendy for a hose but if it does what they say, it will pay for itself in a matter of a few tanks of fuel.

Thoughorly love my blue hose. Good sound and the egt numbers are lower. Much better than stock with all the innards removed. Would do it again on the next one.

Thanks for the responses. Hopefully more Cool Blue Hose users will voice their opinion.

I just want to verify that the metal inserts won't rust. Does anybody know if the metal inserts are treated with a POR-15 type product to keep them from rusting. Or are they a high quality stainless steel?

Keep the responses coming.

It was the first thing I installed when I got my truck. I also installed the Cool Power, TAG, and an Amsoil drop-in filter. I did the Blue Hose and TAG first, noticeable change in throttle response/power. Then I did the air box with the Cool Power and the Amsoil filter, again a noticeable change. I am completely satisfied with it AND I would buy it all again, hands down. The plus to having better intake aspiration was the fuel mileage gains. My filter minder has never been sucked down and the Blue Hose has not had any problems either. My EGT's also came down. My dealership has NO problems with the mod whatsoever BECAUSE I retained the stock air box and overall air intake system functions like stock. I am more than happy.

I bought one. I love it. It`s a stainless steel reinforced wire wrap to keep if from collapsing. Works great. Seals great. Let`s the turbo sing without ring removal... Yes I would do it again.

I run the stock box and just received my Amsoil Nano Drop in air filter... .

It has no metal insert. It`s internal stainless wire wrap. You don`t see anything. Nothing exposed. Nothing to rust. Simple and uncomplicated.

Are most of you guys using only the cool hose piece or the complete intercooler kit? Is the complete kit mainly for high horsepower applications? Any advantage to running the complete kit under stock to +75 HP conditions or should one save the extra money and just go with the hose?

Sorry for the question. What`s the kit your referring to.

I only found the hose itself.

In answer to your question, I use it on mine with TST R49 and an Amsoil Nano Drop In air filter. It`s a completely unrestricted air box to turbo intake tube.

The kit that you are looking at is a complete hose replacement kit that some of my dealers put together with our parts. The hoses are much better than stock and are made of the same silicone as the Cool Blue Hose.

PS Glad you guys like the Cool Hose, it's a big part of why I bought the business. I had one on my '05 but ended up selling it to a customer, that's happened 3 times now! We are increasing production and just test fitted a Cool Blue Hose for 2nd Gen trucks with the help of TDR member San Felipe Bob. Stay tuned.

I will be the odd ball... I put one on my 05 and took it off cuz the high pitch whine from the turbo was annoying, especially towing.

I have to admit though it sure looked cool and fit good. I think everyones ears are different, I worked around jets for many years and aways had ear protection for the annoying sounds so maybe it just reminds me of those days.

I would buy another if there was a quite model. :D

COOL Blue Hose Kit

I ordered the CBHK, part #0H100-101-10, from NWTrckworks.com. Should be getting the kit this week.

The kit replaces all the hoses in intake system, $179. 10+ shipping.

crabman :)
