By DPP do you mean Diesel Performance Parts out of Nashville, TN? I just searched there website and can't find them listed anywhere - do you have the part numbers?

To address some of the concerns about the hose collapsing, it is a very strong hose. You'd have to have a serious restriction (e. g. , a softball plugging the intake after the filter) to cause something like that. And if that were the case, I can assure you that the hose would not be at fault.



It is nice to hear teh SPS62 sing a little more, but I regret to say that compared to the stock intake hose, the CBH does slightly reduce off-idle, off-boost response. But unlike the stock intake, it doesn't rub both the exhaust manifold shield and the intercooloer hose on the boosted side of the turbo.

The hose only cause`s this because you have other mods.

I have a stock truck with a TST and have no issue`s with tip in throttle response. Let`s not blame the hose for you throttle response issue. Look to the mods you have performed and tune your truck to match your desired characteristics. It`s the same with everything you change. One thing leads to another. You installed the hose last so that`s the problem as you see it, but that`s not necessarily a correct statement or finding.

Someone else on this board reacts the same way. They have 3 boxes stacked and something happened, so they blame the last box installed.

It`s just beyond comprehension that you or anyone else would point to a good quality product that is so basic and blame it for your trucks response when you have many other mods on the list. Your sps62 would have no bearing on tip in lag would it.

It`s just beyond comprehension that you or anyone else would point to a good quality product that is so basic and blame it for your trucks response when you have many other mods on the list. Your sps62 would have no bearing on tip in lag would it.

If you saw one of my recent posts regarding the SPS62, I noted that turbo caused a considerable loss of throttle response. The hose simply just made it a tad worse. I mentioned the turbo so others contemplating the same setup may have some insight as to how the combo perform. I don't know how the hose will respond with completely stock trucks, but this is how it responds with this turbo. I'm sorry that you can't comprehend this.



By the way, the quality of a product has nothing to do with it's performance. You can look at products in all types of markets that are built with very good quality that don't perform nearly as well as lower quality pieces. It's just beyond comprehension that you wouldn't recognize this. :-laf



Anyhow, I like the hose, and it is of very good quality. I will continue to use it as well as recommend it. Like most of the rest of the aftermarket parts available, there are usually compromises. To the credit of Bryan's company, this part is the only one that measures up to the quality and ease of installation as my expectations (it fit perfectly). And to answer the OP, yes, I would buy it again - I don't think the competing hose/tube is as good.



SELLUFISHMAN, I was impressed that the hose added very little noise compared to the stock intake hose with modified airbox (while using the SPS62 - I'm sure DrDiesel would want me to point that out again).

I like the way the black sort of blends in with the engine compartment... looks the way it should be from the factory.

As far as noticeable improvements to performance... the acceleration on to the freeway seems smoother when I mash the throttle. And the turbo whistle is noticeable. I'm glad I put the silencer ring back in or it would really be loud.

It`s great that you point that out. The hose is a very simple replacement part (my words/ Basic component) It`s the statement, that it caused throttle lag on your truck that`s the problem.

Now you have taken my statements and twisted them to meet your poor/low expectations. You modded your truck - installed a basic component and that`s what caused your lack of throttle response(in your own words)

It has nothing to do with price vs quality. It`s an ignorant statement and I`m really sorry your unable comprehend it. And no, I did not see your post on the sps62. Just this one.

What air filter do you use with the stock box.

I`m running with the Amsoil Nanofiber Drop-In. I think the non-oil filter works great.

It also requires no chemical washing. Just blow it out every 25K or so with 20psi shop air and toss it back in. It`s claimed life span is 100K

I picked one up for 37 bucks shipped.

PS Glad you guys like the Cool Hose, it's a big part of why I bought the business. I had one on my '05 but ended up selling it to a customer, that's happened 3 times now! We are increasing production and just test fitted a Cool Blue Hose for 2nd Gen trucks with the help of TDR member San Felipe Bob. Stay tuned.

Bryan I didn't realize you'd bought DPP so congrats, want to wish you the best. I knew Dave was thinking about getting out of it but I hadn't realized he went through with it. Kent Earnest and I worked with him a bit when he was developing the TAGs. One time when I stopped by a couple years ago he says "Check this out" and pulls out his prototype cool blue hose. As I recall one of the reasons he went about it was to address the noise issue guys were having with other aftermarket intakes. I think it's great you're taking this on to great new colors
