Never worry about being rear ended ever again

I don't frequent those places... .

Oh, the truck... I have seen those for auction before... . it would probably bonce you to death Oo.

"BAH It is an auto... would've been nice if it had the Getrag"

Look good at the under hood picture. No TPS and I see a clutch master cylinder. I don't think it is an auto but it may not be a Getrag. Good chance that is what is wrong with it. I doubt they have killed the engine.

Probably a weird axle ratio, as in very slow. Still, everything is a bargain at the right price. Or as my flea market buddy says, if you price it low enough, someone will buy it.

ok I looked

Early ones don't need a tps becuase they didn't come with 518 OD trannys, my 727 only has the kdp which is just inboard and aft of the throttle cable, and the setup looks exactly the same, but if you see a cluch master cylinder, I may be wrong, not familiar with the manuals.

besides, most airport tow vehicles and tug type tractors are auto...

That is what we call "Bobtails". They have a 7. XX axle ratio, AT, no AC and a bench seat. I'm not sure if they even have an AM/FM in it.

"OK I looked"

So did I and you are dead right. I stand corrected. And worse than that, I have one of each and still goofed up. But that is how I ususally do. When I am wrong, I am really off in left field.

James

It has a top speed of 20 mph if your lucky, but it will pull. The biggest thing I've pulled with one was a 20k lb air conditioning unit.

Great truck for an engine/transmission and misc. parts if it goes cheap. These may have had the heavier sheet metal on the doors too. Mysteryman can you answer that question?

Those even came in the 2nd. Gen. versions... also in 4X4 models too. I wouldn't mind getting the 4X2 type & mounting a welder on it, make one nice mill rig.

I drive those everyday at work to pull bombs.

It's a bobtail. They are 3 speed autos, 7. 17 gears. They'll do about 35mph. The newer ones (late 90s) will do 40mph. We had a few 2000 and 2001s in AK. All the Dodge we had were 4x4, put them make them 4x2 as well.

Pull tandem trailers that weigh about 3k empty, loaded with 4 2000lb bombs each so ~22,000lbs. The trucks weighs like 10000lbs. There's big slab of steel under the gas tank, plus that bed is 1/4" or 3/8" depending what part of it.

They made Chevy versions, duallie, Ford duallies (85s with the 300 I6), CJ10A Jeeps, 7. 3L Fords, 6. 0 Fords.
