I just got this intake manifold from a guy on ebay, it came in yesterday and I put it on this evening at work and I really liked the difference it made on the drive home. I had been looking at intake manifolds for some time but couldnt justify spending over $200 for one of the big name ones, cant believe the price of those things. This one is $160 shipped to my door, I got it powdercoated red to match my valve cover and it already came with the port for my boost gauge, gasket and new bolts. It looks cool under the hood too, most of the reason I got it. Lifetime warranty too, really well built. I'm gonna try to get a pic of it on here as soon as I get help figuring out how to do that, got a digital camera and dont know how to use it.

was the difference it made really that noticeable? i mean you hear it all the time from manufacturers, but to hear it from a consumer is a whole different thing. how much of a difference did it make?

you can see it if you go to ebay and type in cummins intake manifold, not sure how to put a link in, really ignorant involving computers on most things. It is the one for $160, the others such as afe, ats etc. are all around $350, ridiculous. I would say for a bone stock truck it might not be a big thing, but with the light mods I have it seems worth the money. I only drove it home from work yesterday, didnt drive it today, I'll drive it some more this weekend, but it definitely spools the turbo up faster. The hill up to my house is real steep, and starting out there is usually some turbo lag, but I noticed with this thing it spooled right up. I also wanted something that looked cool, I keep the motor clean enough to eat off of and got tired of looking at that boring intake. I know, its pathetic. I didnt really pay attention to a drop in egt's or anything like that, and I'm sure it wont help my fuel mileage or any of that crap. Basically, I would not spend the high price the big name manufacturers want for the amount of performace you get out of it, but for $160 and you get it powdercoated in any color you want w/ up to 6 ports if you need them, I think it is worth it.

Here is what I see as a problem:

The flange is not ridgid enough to keep from warping, the flange will warp causing the gaskets to blow or leak.

WELL, competition is a good thing - but guess I'll stick with what I got from Stefan Kondolay:

Gary, I agree that the one from DTT looks like the best one on the market in terms of shear industrial art. When I got my Banks High Ram it was the only one on the market. Just from looking at them, I'd guess the CFM flows the best by a scosh. I see you took out the factory toaster. I could never get away with that in the winter around here.

we are in the process of making our own, I was thinking about making one with I saw the one by Stefen/dtt, decided to actually get things going, got the bottom plates made and drilled out, just waiting on the piping to get here. When I was on ebay the other day I actually saw the ones that were in the first post, there nice but expensive, Im hoping to make mine for around $30 bucks apiece, not gonna sell them to anybody but my buddies, not looking for a money maker just something to say I made it.

If anyone wants one of those cooler tubz PM me and we can talk $ It will be less than the eBay min bid.

**on edit I will add that I have one for a 24v that I am selling. I am not making any and bought the one I have. ***

i will second the thumbs up on the intake manifold from ebay. i bought an ATS years ago nice but PRICEY. my buddy bought that one off ebay and i gotta say it a nice piece. i was worried about the flange but its quite thick. my only complaint when we installed it was poor design for the dipstick bracket, not where it should be. cant beat the price. wish i wouldve thought of that idea, that feller got to making some nice cash.

Okay got the intake installed I will take pics when the weather is better. the kit came with a new gasket and 4 new bolts. install took about 15 min. well my comparison is only against the stock unit. this is my butt meter. I can hear my spool gaining early and a nicer spool tone while driving. I dont know how to explain it but it appears my throttle is smoother going to higher rpm's with each shift. my EGT's were down 50-100 when I drove to the snow up to 5500 elevation usually make this trip every couple months. around town didnt really notice any major egt help. the intake looks alot like the DTT but not as pretty. (not knocking DTT) again I have no comparison only with the stocker. I think this complimented my bigger turbo. for the price 160. 00 mailed to the door. Im sure the heat to touch on the intake is alittle hotter than the stock material. it came with (2) welded bung's that are plugged for later use for injection or what ever if I choose. I will take pictures in the next couple of days. when I get off work its usually dark.

Just got mine from Byrds diesel last Tuesday. Install was simple and it seems to help with turbo spool up. I do not have a mfld press. gauge so have no referance on any change as far as that goes. By the way it was one piece with very good welds at the flange.
