I just wanted to post a couple of cool pics of my 3rd Gen parked by a C-5A Galaxy! I was pretty happy when Base Ops let me drive it out there. It doesn't happen very often. I was giving a tour of the C-5 for some friends, and I just HAD to get a pic of this!!

Very Nice Soler. It would have been even better if you could have talked them into letting you tow it across the tarmac.

Well, if I did hook this up, I'd have the all time high towing record for these trucks! This bird as it sat here today weighs 500,000 lbs!! :--)

Make sure you put those pics in your Reader's Rigs. It would be sweet to see that on the TDR homepage some day!

Cool ,Nice rig i live right by Travis AFB those things fly over my house every day i love that sound :D . My dad is retired CoastGaurd when i was kid the whole family got to fly to Hawaii in one :D

Years ago a friend of mine, a pilot in the ANG was flying a C5 to an air show in Quonset, RI. I flew my light twin in that day for the show. He tried to get me permission to park under that massive wing and get a picture but was denied at the last minute. Hang on to that one. They did fly a Pitts Special ( fast as he could go) in formation with an F-18 (slow as he could go), and a P-51 Mustang in a wide formation around the airport. What a mix. Thanks for the pic.

One of the coolest things I saw was an F15 and a P51 in formation at Vance AFB. They flew with the Eagle in Lead, and then swapped and the Mustang was Lead. The Eagle is the Pre-eminent Fighter of today, and the jet age, but the Mustang is THE Pre-eminent Fighter of all time! That was on the Discovery channel where they compared all the fighters of certain eras. The P-51 of WWII, the F-86 of Korea, the F-4 of Vietnam, and the F-15 for today. The F-15 won for the era of today, plus for the jet-age. The Mustang was hands-down the winner for WWII, and hands-down the winner overall for its contribution during its era.

Airplanes are cool. I'm going to miss ole Freddy when I move this winter. I'll still be flying, but there's nothing like this big ole bird. It's the Caddy of the fleet!

Good luck with all that! The B-1 is way cool. It was on my list, but things didn't work out.

what is that red strobe on your roof for?

That is a magnetic cone. Base Ops had me sign it out. I had to show my flightline driver's license, and I was given the cone while driving out there.
