Coolant additives?

Do they work and are they worth it? (ie. Water wetter)

I use it in my truck and have had no problems yet I used it in sportbikes and got good results!!!

Had a problem in 87' t-bird with cooling and the water-wetter really helped---our CTD really seem to cool good--you could add, but don't see where it would do anything---of course, salesman would probably disagree... ... . R, J. B.

I saw better cooling with the 180 deg. T-stat on my '01 HO. I rarely get hot enough to see any gains with this that aren't washed by the T-stat maintaining its set temp.

The Cummins service manual states that "coolant additives are not necessary for your Cummins Turbo Diesel". That tells me not to waste my time or money on it. If you are concerned about coolant becoming weak/fatigued,replace it. It is cheap. The reason additives are usually added is to prevent cavistation on the cylinder walls,which is not a concern with the CTD.

The only additive I add is rust inhibiter/water pump lube.
