must not have worked on fighter aircraft the jet jocks were allways FUBAR or bending up something. I guess if I had a SAM or AAA shot at me I would have bent a plane or two also.

I never worked on fighter aircrafts, but the Air Force did teach me great skills in which I could earn a living. However, I took advantage of the GI bill and went to Engineering school at the University of New Mexico. I am now retired from the Army Corps of Engineers.

Hoses are so much better than they were in the old days that they will likely last as long as the truck does. I'll start checking them at about 100K during oil changes but I won't worry about them before then.

My dad is still on the same hoses on his 99 with almost 290k.

I agree with PD on this statement. Years ago, engines leaked and sweated oil all over the place, sometimes necessitating frequent hose replacement. Additionally, before the advent of fuel injection and electronic ignition, a rough running engine was not that uncommon, espescially when cold, putting additional stress on hoses. Some vehicles from the early and mid seventies, with the advent of rudimentary emission controls, were real fire breathers, always running hot, further taxing marginal cooling systems.
