Some of you may have read about this in my other thread. I have 47ppm of potasium in my last oil sample, which could be coolant in my oil after 5500 miles on oil. the 06 truck has about 33k on it now. I have a banks kit on it which runs the boost to a max of 40psi and egts hit about 1250 when run hardest. could this have blown the head gasket? I remember hearing these engines had an issue with the head studs not being able to hold up to the high boost, is 40psi high enough for this? my other question is, where and how do i start looking for coolant leaks into my oil? what is common on these?thanks for the help.

I have an 06 also and my boost hits 46 pounds i've had my egt's in the 1400s. My friend is pushing 58 pounds of boost on his 06, waiting to install his head studs so he can turn it up. If you have a problem i don't think it originated from your boost being too high. But i could be wrong since every truck is different. I have been abusing my truck (not recklessly) since it was new and the only parts i've changed on it were suspension related. I think if you go to your mechanic he can do a leak down test or a presure test to see if you are loosing antifreeze. I'm not a mechanic so don't take my word for it but i've seen my mechanic do it a long time ago. I also would not loose sleep over a one time lab analasys of your oil. Investigate a little before you get worked up over it.

Good Luck

I seriously doubt 40 psi would blow a head gasket, unless there was already something wrong.

If memory served the competition guys say the stock head gasket is usually good for up to 50 psi. Anything over that and the stock head bolts start running the risk of stretching.
