Merry Christmas to All. I guess I can still say that. :) I have had to add about 1 qt of coolant every 1000 miles for the last 30000 miles. It has been more of a nuisance than anything else. I'm sure it is not normal though. I have never seen coolant under the truck and can't seem to find a leak. It does not appear to be going into the engine as I have been monitoring the oil and it does not appear to have coolant in it. I have not done an oil sample though.

Any help would be appreciated.

Might check the small hose on passenger side of engine near rear, mine had a slow drip there and I have read of others having same problem. On mine the hose and clamp weren't up on the nipple far enough. bg

Does it get down more than 1 qt? If you wait 3k miles do you have to add 3 qts? Reason I ask is I've seen overflow jug failures and when this happens under normal driving heat the coolant expands and pushes about a qt out but if the jug is dis functional it can't suck that quart back in so it's just always 1 qt low.

If you sample the engine oil, if coolant or glycol is present you will have a high sodium count for burning coolant.

I do not see you mention if you put a pressure tester on the cooling system. Even though you state that you do not see evidence of a leak (i. e. coolant leak) ... this test will help indicate an "open" in the system. When ever I see low coolant, this is the first test I perform.

The amount that you state seems to be excessive. I have 64K on mine and have never had to add any coolant.

Stop by and you can borrow my pressure tester... bring yer skis... (LOL)

Thanks for the help. It was the short hose on the right side of the block.

It was definitely leaking, clamps were loose. Thanks again for the advice.
