Coolant overflow....question

just a reminder that the max line on the overflow bottle is for when the system is hot, not cool. when the system cools off, it will siphon fluid out of the bottle and bring the overflow level back down. do not fill the overflow bottle to max, it should be closer to Min



That is a very good point. I was prob overfilled in the first place but I hasten to add that by the time I got back to COS it (the overflow tank)was completely empty. There was still coolant in the circuit however.



One thing I did notice though is when I took the pressure cap off there was not too much pressure in the system. The next day after installation of a new cap the pressure was much greater. Since my test was not too controlled however I really don't know or remember if I shut off afer analagous driving conditions.



The whole thing is still quite a mystery to me,, including the fact the thermostat is in the bottom hose circuit. I don't know how that works. I guess my cummins is the same way!!
