How hot does your coolant temp get while towing? I towed my 12K fiver the other day and while pulling a long grade I noticed the temp higher than ever. It was at the mark half way between 190 and 240 so it was 215ish. It has never gotten that hot before. I was towing with the comp on #1 and the egts were holding at 1250-1300. Once on level ground it dropped to around 195. Should I be concerned at 215?

I wouldn't be as concerned about the water temp as opposed to the maximum EGT you are seeing. I think the maximum recommended pre turbo temp is 1250 degrees. You are taking it to the limit and beyond. I'd back out of the throttle going up those grades. You don’t state what your running the Comp at, but you might want to reduce the power setting slightly to get your EGT’s under 1200 – 1250 degrees F range.

Running 7-8% grades, my Comp on max setting, towing a GVW of about 15,000 can't get the coolent temp over 200 degrees, or EGT over 1200...

But MAN do I get POWER... ;) :D
