From what I understand the coolant required is a special mix. Orange in color like GM Dexcool, but I guess it is not to be mixed with Dexcool! An article by scientist Mark Grubelich and Richard Ehrenberg, SAE, in Mopar Action Oct. 2006; calls the Mopar coolant G0-5 hybrid. I've never heard of that before, but they say " it contains phosphates that can rapidly protect exposed metal and the long-lasting additives that are not rapidly depleted. " This is a 5 year 100,000 mile coolant used in Cummins, Powerstroke, and Mercedes-Benz diesels. They also recommend using the factory "MOPAR" coolant, as other manufactures don't really provide adequate data on what they contain. It would be wise to also stay away from the magical "mix with anything" coolants. I personally think that the stuff is very similar to GM Dexcool, but the other big companies wanted to market a product related to their own. Basically Dodge wants you to use their coolant, not GM's. Hope this helps.
