coolant

Hello everyone. have been trying to do a search but nothing seems to work. Anyhow I just changed my coolant, 99 4x4 QC and I used Prestone in the yellow jug. All the manual asked for, I think,was Ethyl Glycol. Now I`m reading that I should have something with low silicates. What are you guys using? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I use the Fleetgaurd Compleat diesel antifreeze.

Don't feel too bad. When I had a 91 and they had to replace the oil cooler I was standing there watching them and they replace the coolant with Prestone yellow jugs. But the next time I changed it I used the Fleetguard antifreeze. And thats what I use till this day.

I did about the same as you, bought Texaco then read low silicate should be used. I bought three gallons of Fleetguard at Cummins @ about $9 a gallon , waiting for time to flush and change.
