I use Fleetguard. You can get it straight where you have to mix water(distilled is what I use)or get it already mixed in a premix. The choice is yours.

 This stuff says it contains propylene glycol base fluids. According to everything I've read on the Cummins, that is a definate no-no. Only ethylene glycol based should be used according to my owner's manual, as well as the recent article in TDR.

Thanks for that info Larry. Ill look for the Fleetguarg EG. Am I reading this book correctly. . I need 8 gallons of Anti Freeze (24 quarts) to do this?

Chris,

Again, according to my owner's manual: Total cooling system capacity = 6 gallons (23 liters). Coolant recovery bottle = 1 qt.

I take this to mean that if you buy the premix stuff, get 6 gallons. If you mix your own, 3 gallons.

The techs at Cummins Atlantic flushed Big Green this summer at 23,500 miles. They used Fleetguard Compleat EG ( that is how it is spelled) concentrate and used hose water. They say the ISB is not picky with coolant as long as the low silicate diesel coolants are used and never saw a coolant related failure in an ISB. Get that at the Cummins dealer with the oil and be prepared to lighten your wallet. THey did also use a flush concentrate abd I ran the truck for ten miles or so with that and than it was power flushed. Overkill for a new truck but they did it anyway.
